i usually hand wash my pots and pans,because there are certain ones i use everyday. and i don't run the dishwasher every day, because its just DH and i.
plates, silverware, glasses go in the dishwasher- i run it about every 4 or 5 days.

Its just the Hub and I so we rarely have enough dishes for the dishwasher. We clean as we cook.
I just had to have a DW but it rarely gets used.

Both b/c our DW is old & unless I give the dishes a good rinse first it wont completely clean the dishes. I cant wait for it to break so we can get a new one.

It depends on the amount of dishes and how lazy I am. During the week it's mostly by hand. On the weekends, when more meals are eaten at home, I use the dishwasher.
I like it best when DH does them....which if I am lucky, is like once a week!

I wash by hand, even though we have a dishwasher in our house.
we are only 2, and could not fill it in one day, and the idea of leaving dirty dishes in the dishwaster disgusts me beyond belief.
to cut down on water sumption, I don't wash with the water running.
I suds up everything, scrub it up good, then run the water just to rinse.

I usually use the DW. I wash all pots and pans by hand, knives and DH's mugs (they are too heavy for the top rack of the DW).

By hand, it's more efficient for us. Only when we have company over do we use enough stuff to load up the dishwasher.

But if I miss a cup or whatever, I do it by hand. Most of the pots too.

I mainly use the dishwasher, with the exception of pots and pans and items that are not dishwasher safe.

I read somewhere that the dishwasher is actually MORE efficient than hand washing as long as the dw is full.
I use the dw but pots get washed by hand.
same here... use the DW for most things, but pots and certain platters
