Ugh every time I click on this pic I'm a glutton for punishment but this pic i just outstanding. I bet her daughter, when she is old enough, will be SO PROUD of the sacrifice her mom made serving her country.

Am I the only one who is (perhaps pretending) that those are tears of joy because she's reuinted with her daughter after being gone for a long time?
Same here.. when I saw it I thought it looked like they were being reunited. It still made me cry!
That's exactly what I thought..just still it had to have been the most difficult thing..her face says it all.
My first impression is that they are being reunited, for some reason I imagine that the woman would have at least pretended to be stronger when she left and not broken down like that.

Re: Saw this picture on Pinterest and it made me cry
My husband deployed at the end of May for a 6 month training tour in afghanistan...believe me, nothing prepares you for the reaction of actually saying goodbye. You rehearse it, say how strong you'll be and not show the kids how upset you are, but when the cab pulled up outside our home to take him to the airport, my husband broke down sobbing...
We are NOT military and he will never have to do this again. I DO NOT KNOW how people do it all the time and for longer than 6 months. I have made friends with moms who have spent most of their marriages apart...its becomes their new "normal" but I don't think i could ever do it. Thank GOD there are people in this world who can and are strong enough to get through this kind of life...I pray everyday for God to watch over everyone in these godforsaken warzones.

That is how I saw it also. A emotional reunion. I can't imagine having to do either (say goodbye or reunite after so long) and I praise our military for being strong enough to fight for our freedom while having to be away so long from love ones.

Oh, in the past I thought you were a military spouse when you said deployed. Deployed means combat, no?

I'm not trying to be a jerk but if he's not in the military why do you refer to his time abroad as "deployment"?
Sorry, but the terminology kind of gets me because only military are deployed...they do not get a choice or say in the matter. Maybe I'm sensitive because my sister is on her 2nd deployment and she is a member of the U.S. Navy. My BIL returned last year from his deployment from Iraq, he's done 2 tours there as part of the Army and there's talk he may have to return for a third. Just not sure it's right for you to use that term for someone who is there voluntarily.

I thought the same thing!
Somehow I think it's a reunion...either way, it's very heart wrenching.

Re: Saw this picture on Pinterest and it made me cry
I'm still crying! Before having DD this would have made me sad....dd is 3 months and this pic hurts my heart... The thought of having to leave her is unimaginable! I thank God that there are men & women willing to do it b/c I know I could not.
I also think they are being reunited in the pic, but it is still heartbreaking to think of how long they may have been apart

I'm pretty sure that this is a reunion. I can't imagine any mother, especially a soldier, not being strong for the sake of thier child.

I thought the same thing. Please don't use this term. It's disrespectful to the men and woman( my brother included) who risk thier lives fighting for our country.

Im glad someone said it, Ive thought this all along but kept my mouth shut. I thought the same thing when we have had a family member actually deployed into actual combat three times already.
I mean yes, technically by definition she can use the word deployed, I just dont think its appropriate given that it implies he is a soldier fighting on the front lines away from his family for years for his country. I will never know the pain of being a military wife but I have friends that are and its a totally different ballgame - it rubbed me the wrong way bc its misleading.

I saw it as a reunion picture too. Still made me tear up, but definitely saw it as her returning..

Wow - you can SEE how painful it was for her to leave her child... Such a powerful reunion!
I truly hope this MOTHER is not judged by the people in her life for making the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I am sure she deals with comments often
