It is perfectly normal to be scared. I cried when I first saw the heartbeat and again at 12weeks when I heard it for the first time. I am high risk and just took it day by day. I tried to enjoy it as much as I could and here I am 35w2d and just received my induction date. So now I am scared of delivery Chat Icon . Good luck and I pray your bean sticks Chat Icon

Honestly, you are always going to be scared. From the second you get the BFP until the day your child is 60 years old.

This is so true for me. I don't feel scared to death or give myself anxiety over it, but I had a hard time getting excite over this pregnancy until after my 12 week sono. When you stop worrying about miscarriage, there are new worries that come up (like worrying about babies health, premature labor, stillbirth, etc ect)

Honestly, you are always going to be scared. From the second you get the BFP until the day your child is 60 years old.

When I was pregnant - I just could not wait to get out of the first trimester because then I knew I would be "safe"

Then I started to worry about the Level 2 to make sure that he was fine.

Once that was fine - I was worried about the cord being wrapped around his neck.

Then - about the delivery that he would be ok.

Then - when he was first born - about Sids.

Now that he's eating - I worry about him choking.

I worry about the days when he starts school - and then starts driving (crazy I know)

The second you become a parent and get that BFP the worrying never ends. All that I can tell you is to enjoy this time! You have a little miracle growing inside of you - and although, it is the scariest thing in the world - it is the most amazing thing ever! Enjoy this time - eat whatever you want (it's the only time in your life when you can) and take care of yourself and your little baby!!! Everything else will work itself into place. Unfortunately, things do happen that are out of our control and we can never understand why they happen but you can't live worrying if they will happen to you!

So - be excited - tell friends and family - it will make it all the more real!

Sorry to ramble - but I know exactly how you feel because I am such a worrier too! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

As a mom of 2 I couldn't have said it better myself!!!!!!!

You just have to sit and relax - its hard to do but stress is the worst thing for you and the baby. Enjoy this time and congrats to you!

Re: Scared to death

I think the feeling of anxiety is very normal. Understand that you have to take care of yourelf the best you can and just try to enjoy every single day. And congratulations on your bfp!

Re: Scared to death

First off, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Yes, I would say the majority of women in early pregnancy feel this way so what you are feeling is perfectly normal. It's hard not to think about it however, try and stay positive. When I was in my first trimester I would get negative thoughts about it, what if this and what if that but than I realized if I keep putting negative thoughts in my head I am bringing in the negativity and began thinking positive and soon the negative thoughts weren't there anymore, before I knew it I was in my 2nd trimester.

So relax, enjoy every moment of this amazing journey, it's a beautiful thing and I'm sure everything will work out besides this board can be your support if your ever feeling down or just plain old worried Chat Icon

Re: Scared to death

Congrats! I agree, I think once you get out of the first trimester you feel a bit more relaxed, but then you start to worry about other things. I am 28 weeks tomorrow and I am a fingertip dilated wtih 40% effacement, so now I am worried that he will stay put until he's properly cooked! I think it is only natural to worry, my Mum still worries about me and I'm 40 in February! I hope you have a happy & healthy pregnancy, try not to worry too much and enjoy it! Chat Icon

Re: Scared to death

I know how you feel. After I got my BFP I was afraid to do ANYTHING for fear that I would harm the baby or bring on a miscarriage. I even totally stopped working out for a while. I wouldn't even walk on the treadmill. Chat Icon

Even now, at 17 weeks, I get nervous.
I have not felt any movement, I am not getting any bigger, and I stopped gaining weight. I was sure that something was wrong. Thankfully I heard the baby's heartbeat at yesterday's appt, so now I feel better.

But I will probably get all nervous again in a couple of weeks if still have not felt movement. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Scared to death

I would agree with the above posters, I think the minute you find out your pregnant the worry begins and never really ends. First it may be miscarriage but then there are other worries bout the baby's health, delivery, etc. then rasing the baby, there's just so much!! I am almost 35 weeks and am now working myself over the delivery. I did all the tests, except amnio but have had a very difficult pregnancy, am over 35 and have been on numerous drugs throguhout the pregnancy for nausea, asthma, and af ew other issues, including one hospital visit where I was lacking oxygen.....all these things make me worry about how my baby is handling it alll? it's hard not too worry but I know once he is here, I'll find new worries.....like anything I think you need to find a way to balance out your fears/concerns..its tough but I gueess that's just one of the big challenges of parenting
