Scary night....
Last night I had a severe migraine, which I have not had in a LONG time. But what was most scary is that I couldn't care for DS! I couldn't even hold him! DH was stuck at work, no way he could get home, but thank goodness my brother was here! He watched DS from 8-12 while I rested, and he put DS to bed!
What scares me is what if this happens again?!?! Anyone suffer from migraines?? My brother thinks it is from taking BCP.

Re: Scary night....
It could be BCP.
I've only had one migraine since I've had kids. Luckily DH was around to take care of them. I only wished that he would have heard me whimpering for water.
If it happens again, hopefully family & friends are around to help out.

Re: Scary night....
I got a bunch in my first trimester of pregnancy. The visual disturbances are what scared me the most. I pushed through the pain, but was worried I wouldn't be able to see. Why aren't you able to hold him? Do you get weak too? For me it was just the loss of some vision and severe headache, which made it unpleasant but not impossible to care for DD. (I got so lucky it didn't happen while I was driving though!)

Re: Scary night....
Jill, the SAME thing happened to me about 6 weeks ago. I was home by myself (DH was at work in Brooklyn!) and I was vomitting and thank GOD Christopher slept through most of it while I slept in my bedroom with him.
I agree, it was very scary and I hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon to either of us

Re: Scary night....
Maybe you can talk to your DR. Is there a precription you can take?

Re: Scary night....
Could be BCP. I was taking them and had one so bad I was paralyzed temporarily (less than 2 hours). I never took BCP again. Once they were out of my system the migraines got better.
Now it's the IUD since I'm not allowed hormones...

Re: Scary night....
I get them a lot! I call DH and tell him to get home.. If he truly can't, I call my mom or my sister to come over. I wish I knew what triggered them for me, but its always so random.

Re: Scary night....
OH YES! It's just awful and I have tried lots of meds and nothing has helped. My mom lives a few blocks away thank God, and if she weren't able to I would have to call DH to come home.

Re: Scary night....
That's so awful! Its my worst fear that DH will be out of town and I will get violently ill. I once had to go the emergency room about 2 hours after he just got home from a trip and I kept wondering what would have happened if he wasn't home yet.
I hope you find out what causes them and feel better

Re: Scary night....
The same thing happened about 6 weeks after I had my first. I couldn't even see- I started to panic because I thought I was going blind. I called my husband to come home and called my dr. They told me to come right in, but I couldn't see to drive. When I eventually made it to the doctor, they gave me a migraine medicine. It was supposedly good even though I was breastfeeding. I wish I remember what it was called... I know it was bright pink. I hope they don't come back for you. They are so scary!

Re: Scary night....
I suffer from severe migraines, but luckily was fine when I was pregnant. My dr said it was because of all the hormones, that I would prob get them again after giving birth. I went back on BCP after having my son, and started to get the visual disturbances that I get along with my migraines. I decided to stop taking the pill, and have not had any symptoms since. So I'm hoping that it was the pill, and that everything will continue to be fine.
I could imagine how scared you were....I worry about this happening to me.

Re: Scary night....
If you are getting migraines on BCP you should get off of them. You could have a clotting disorder. I do and was told to NEVER take BCP. Very dangerous. Not trying to scare you but I would talk to your Dr and find another method of BC

Re: Scary night....
I used to get migraines a lot. Knock on wood I haven't had one in awhile. Next time you feel one coming on (either seeing spots, dizzy, or a mild headache take 2 aleve and you might be able to deter it).
