Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
I hate picking the date for my baby to be born. I'm due 12/31... so they will only schedule me for the week before.... So my options (to get my own doctors) are 12/26 or 12/28.
Hmmm, day after xmas, but be home by new years eve... or 12/28...
If your LO has a birthday very close to xmas, please give me your opinions. :)

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
I don't have a Christmas baby, but I do know how you feel about scheduling the day...I've had to do that twice.
Anyway, I voted for the 28th. Gives you a couple of days breathing room, like if you need to make or buy a cake or a gift you don't need to be going crazy ON Christmas about it. Also, NYE may be affected this year, but in the future it won't be a concern...
Good luck!
ETA...and with a date of the 28th this year, you won't need to worry about fasting etc on Christmas prior to the c-section...

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
Thats the first thing I asked DH yesterday... "What time will I have to stop eating on xmas?" LOL DS1 was an emergency c-section, so I'm sure it will be a much different experience. I was leaning towards the 28th too.

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
My brothers bday is on Xmas and mine is the 27th. My dd was also due on the 27th but I needed an emergency C section on the 9th. I was very concerned about when my dd would be born because I know first hand what its like being born around the holidays.
My choice would definetly be the 28th. You want your dc to have their own day and the 26th people are still in Xmas mode

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
I picked the date 2 out of my 3 c-sections. It is stressful, lol.
DS 2 - We had the choice of 9/11, 9/12 or 9/13. I obviously didn't want to pick 9/11 and I don't like the number 13, so I went with 9/12.
DD - We didn't have much of a choice since it was Thanksgiving. We went with 11/26 last year which was Day after Thanksgiving/Black Friday, lol.
I would pick 12/28. The day after if you travel would be a travel home day for most. At least 12/28 is in between Xmas and New Years.
Good luck!

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
DS is the 20th DH is hte 21st Niece is the 14th.
So I say having it the 28th is better....kinda space it a little. Its so hard around the holidays to get every one together and plan a birthday in the midst of things. THe 26th IMO everyone is just going to bring babies gifts to Christmas...the 28th although its still close at least its a few extra days.
The one and ONLY thing I hate about having a december baby is that I feel like its unfair for the excitement of his birthday. He doesnt get jipped at all but I feel like if you have a b-day in June that your b-day and everyone buys you gifts and is so excited for you. Its your special moment. for the most part its all yours.
With DS, I feel bad because his b-day is 5 days before christmas so everyone comes and watches him open the gifts but then 5 days late rthe entire family is doing the same thing. SO the moment is more shared if you KWIM. Hard to explain but thats why I say space it a little if possible.

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
That is funny! I am due 12/31 one as well and have to schedule my c-section too! (This will be my 3rd C-sec)
I didnt have a choice though - mine is scheduled for the 26th! I am already stressed about it!
I was about 8-9 days early with both my kiddies - so with a due date of 12/31 I fear this baby is coming on Christmas day! I do not want to miss Santa! I am telling everyone I am keeping my legs tightly shut all of Christmas! and if I go early I better go early enough that I am home by the 25th!
UGH! I hate this timing..But as everyone has been telling me.."it is what it is.." (If I had a nickel for everytime I heard that!)
Good luck!
I agree with others 28th might be better give you a couple of days to digest Christmas feast

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
My birthday is on 12/28 and every year it feels as if Christmas was so long ago. Neither date is ideal but the 28th is better.

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
I had a scheduled c-section Dec. 30th. I was in the hospital for NYE but it wasn't really a big deal.

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
I'm 12/29. I'd pick the 28th based solely on pigging out on the 25th. Just make sure you remember your child's birthday each year and make a big deal out of it! My parents forgot mine most years.

Re: Scheduling c-section... near xmas...
My bday is on the 26th and I never get excited about it, it's totally overshadowed by Christmas ! So choose the 28th. I don't really care about my bday but my mom hates when I say that!
