We got $38. I honestly don't understand how it's legal to basically bribe people to approve a low school budget. Not trying to cause a debate, it just really rubs me the wrong way.
I have to say I don't have kids and probably wont, but I bought a house in a very good school district for many reasons (re-sale for one). And I believe that our kids need and deserve a good education.
I will vote EVERY time to keep the budget under 2%. They have a LOT of our money and I expect them to be good custodians of my money and be a good custodian of the education these kids need.
But the 2% cap makes them think about managing money wisely IMHO.

Did anyone get two checks for one household?? We didn't get ours yet, but my parents in smithtown school district got two. One I my dads name got 41 and one in my moms name for like 60 something. Why would that happen? My mom was curious

Do they not file together? I havent heard of anyone getting two. So curious how that works-we only got one check for each and DH and I dont file jointly.

They file together. Been in the same house for 35 years too. My mom is confused too, she wanted me to ask on here haha

School tax bill diff btw 2013 and 2014 or 1.46 of the 2013 bill whichever is greater

You likely won't get it because you didn't pay the school taxes for the year the rebate was being issued for (2013).
