School Year- Teachers Assigned

My DD had girl in her class for 2nd grade that i don't want in her class again. She was in my DD's Kindergarten class, and then last year for 2nd grade.
She has behaviorial issues she was suspended for scratching a few girls in the class last year (not DD), as in scratching them so hard they were bleeding. Then toward the end of last year DD told her she couldn't go to her sleep over and she hit DD , she wasn't suspended she was sent to the principals office. Is there anyway i can find out if she is in the same class as DD, we already got teacher assignments. I didn't think about it earlier. Should i call the school? Or just lets see what happens.

Unless there are serious extenuating circumstances you haven't mentioned, chances of getting your child's class changed are slim to none at this point.

I would call the school and explain the situation. All schools our different. Our school takes teacher requests, friend requests, and will switch around a class before (and even after) school starts. Some aren't as accommodating.

Ugh.... the school my kids go to asks parents to write letters at the end of the school year indicating any problems with any child and/or teacher so they can properly place them. They will NOT make changes though after the classes have been made. Good luck!

You are alittle late to change classes now but I would contact the teacher and let her know your concerns and to have them keep an eye out on the situation. While I am NOT condoning at all what the other girl did, sometimes as they get older those behaviors diminish so it might not be a problem. Definitely keep an eye out though and alert the teacher of anything that happens.

I feel like it's late to say you don't want them placed together. You could try calling, but I am not sure they would tell you what class the other girl is in due to the privacy issue, though obviously you'll know once school starts.

I think your best bet is to first of all see if they're in the same class and if so, talk to the teacher right away about their past issues and ask her to keep an eye on it. And tell your child to steer clear of the girl, and report any issues to the teacher immediately.

Unfortunately, the time to do this was prior to June, not now. Every district is different I am sure but, in our school - you have plenty of opportunity to make these requests April-June. You can write a letter or talk to the teacher directly and requests to not be with another student are 100 percent honored. However, once the placements have been made it is only for very very rare situations that they will be changed. Usually it is because a child ended up where they shouldn't be because of movement over the summer. Additionally, I wouldn't personally do it now at this point. I would wait it out and see how it goes. If she is in your DD's class I would discuss the situation with the teacher and make sure they are not put together in the classroom and if this is another bad year I would make sure her teacher knows NOT to place them together next year.

Call the school! I hate that problem children ruin an entire class. Sucks.
