The school calls you, but it's listed on news sites. If you didn't get a call, you might want to make sure they have the correct number on file.

I just got an email from DD's school that they are open tomorrow. She goes to a private school on the north shore.

i'm curious-the janitor at my school says we're going to be open, but as a private school our kids come from the city, nassau, and suffolk
i wouldn't mind a delayed opening-it's one of my early days

I found out from LIF first....  , then I checked the district website, then I checked the newsday list, then I got a call to the house from the district, then a call to my cell.

My school is in an area that got significantly less snow than me. If school is open, I may not be able to get there. I think in schools in less affected areas, it may be more of an issue of staff getting to work than of road conditions.
Well, my decision was made for me. My DC's school is closed so I stayed home.

We had a 2 hour delayed open but Rob decided to keep the boys home because he doesn't trust the buses and he did not want to drive.
