Seaford - South of Sunrise Hwy
I'm very interested in a property south of Sunrise Hwy in Seaford (out of the flood zone). I'm getting mixed reviews on the area. It looks very nice but I'd like to hear it from the people that actually live there and nearby. We'd be zoned for Wantagh Elementary, Seaford Middle and Seaford Senior HS. Thanks!!

Re: Seaford - South of Sunrise Hwy
I grew up there, but south of Merrick. It's a good town I didn't realize there were any areas zoned for Wantagh Elem, is the house west of Seamans Neck Rd?

I would double check that Wantagh El dosent sound right with Seaford Middle and HS. But I wouldn't worry either way both school districts are great.

Re: Seaford - South of Sunrise Hwy
I grew up in Seaford -- my parents still live their, south of Merrick Rd.
I do a lot of work in the Merrick to Massapequa area as a realtor.
There are no houses zoned for Wantagh elementary and Seaford middle/high.
There is a section between Sunrise and Merrick that is a Wantagh address (the "tree named" streets) but Seaford school district. It would be Harbor, Seaford Middle, Seaford High. A lot of those houses are flood zone x, where there is really no flood concerns. Flood insurance is usually optional (but depends on the bank) and very cheap (like $400-$500/year).
There are honestly no "bad areas" of Seaford, that I know of... it's a small school district, only 2 elementary schools, 1 middle, 1 high. I know people want to avoid flooding. The only concern about the area you believe you are talking about is that sometimes if you are down by Merrick or up by Sunrise, you are adjacent to commercial properties.
Do you have specific questions or concerns? Again, I have both personal and professional experience, so I'm happy to help!

Re: Seaford - South of Sunrise Hwy
I grew up in between sunrise and merrick. I don't think you would be zoned for Wantagh elementary. I *think* west of Locust Ave goes to Harbor and East of Locust goes to the Manor.

Seaford - South of Sunrise Hwy
I moved to South Seaford a new years ago. I'm on the east side of 135 so my kids would be Harbor, Seaford Middle and HS. We love it. My area is really nice especially my block. My neighbors were born and raised here and raised their kids here. The only area of Seaford I'm not crazy about is east of Neptune and south of Ocean. Homes are really tight and there's no parking.
