Semen Analysis and Quest Diagnostics
Hello Ladies,
I am new here...I have recently started the initial tests for infertility after TTC for a year.
My dr. is sending DH for a semen analysis. I called our lab which would be Quest Diagnostics and they are telling me that the only one on LI that does semen analysis for fertility is in Syosset and you have to drop the sample off M-F between 8:30am -10:00am. We live in Holbrook.
my question is, has anyone else used the same lab for this and is this true? There are no other labs closer to us that will do the analysis? and Syosset is close to an hour from us especially during that time of the morning.

i had the exact same issue as you. i just made my DH the appointment today but i sent him to north shore university hospital labs for it since he works down the block. i already know they accept his insurance and they didnt seem to have a problem as long as DH brings the prescription.

Yup, we had the same issue ( but w/ a different lab company). Not fun and a big pain but hopefully you'll get some answers!
The only other option is to make an appt with an RE. The RE will probably be able to do the SA right in the office (and will also schedule tests for you to do too). Good luck!

thanks for your responses at least now I know I am not the only one here  in this situation.
I am not sure if we are going to switch to an RE just yet. These are the initial tests for me and DH and my dr. also does infertility treatment. I just wish there was an easier way to obtain a sample since it is needed within an hour.

He can produce the sample there if timing is an issue.

I just wish there was an easier way to obtain a sample since it is needed within an hour.
Most clinics have their semen collection "rooms" right down the hall from the operating room so on egg retrieval day, there will be no traveling back and forth for you or your DH.

we had to use the syosset quest too...and no you cant do the collection there...at least thats what they told dh.
he drove like a bat out of hell to get the sample there within the hour.
its also the only quest that does the sa btw..we looked into it

thanks......that is what they told me also, it had to be collected at home and they were the only one on LI that did the SA..they certainly don't make it easy for us. I guess Dh will have to drive like a bat outta hell too to get it there, good thing he is off Christmas break since it is only M-F in the morning.

Good luck! My DH drove half way there and did his thing in a diner bathroom 
Good thing he didn't get arrested for public indecency.
He complained to the people at Quest but they don't care.
At least we have something to laugh about

I told DH he may have to do something similar I don't think he was too happy about that since he is just warming up to this whole infertility thing, you would think Quest would at least have one or two more labs that can do the SA - if not all of them.
