Shoe for beach wedding- walking on sand
Hi ladies- I'm going to be in a beach wedding. What type of shoe would be best for walking on the sand and still looking nice? A sandal? Flip flop? Something else? The bride said she is ok w sandals and flip flops.
TIA

Barefoot. I find it really uncomfortable to walk on the sand in any type of footwear. If you do need to wear something, flip flops tend to kick up the sand.
At a beach wedding a few years ago, I wound up carrying my sandals and walking barefoot on the sand. It was also easier to take the pictures.

I like a flip flop type shoe with an arch just to dress it up a bit more. Like the PP said... you'll probably wind up being barefoot anyway, but before the sand and for pics it'll be nice. Just concentrate on a fun, beachy nail polish color for your pedicure.

Re: Shoe for beach wedding- walking on sand
Thanks. I don't feel comfortable barefoot since I'm officiating and need to be professional.
What would you want your officiant to wear?

Toms? Or I would go barefoot. Flip flops def kick up sand, and sandals with straps tend to accumulate sand inside them.

I'd want you to be barefoot! To me, beach wedding means carefree, casual, maybe a bit hippy dippy

Hmmm.... Maybe the fancy flip flop.... I have dressy black leather sandals w jewels on them and I don't want them to get all gross in the sand and I have a pair of navy/white haviana flips flops- too casual.

You can probably find fancy flip flops in DSW if you don't want to spend too much b/c you don't thin you'll where them much ( unless you get asked to officiate a lot of beach weddings in the future!)
ETA-What are you wearing?

Cool thanks! Well, I am close to the jersey shore, so it could happen again! Most weddings I do are at catering halls & restaurants. I've done outdoor weddings before but there's always been hard ground.
I'll be wearing a black suit. There will be some color in my prayer shawl.

I have nice tori burch flip flops if you'd like to borrow. A lot of dressy sandals. I'm a size 7. I think you live close so you're more than welcome to come by and check them out.

Re: Shoe for beach wedding- walking on sand
OMG Erica that is so sweet of you! I'm not far from you. The wedding is the end of May. If I can't find anything nice that's reasonable, I would love to take you up on your offer. I wear a 6.5 or 7 depending on the shoe. Thank you!!!!!

Re: Shoe for beach wedding- walking on sand
I did a low wedge for a wedding on the beach last spring. It worked well.

Re: Shoe for beach wedding- walking on sand
I was the MOH in a beach wedding last year. The bride bought us all flip flops to wear for the ceremony. If she hadn't I would have bought either a wedge shoe or a flip flop anyway.

no problem at all. You are more than welcome to raid my shoe closet. Wish I had some nice events coming up I could wear them to. Although we do have a Bat Mitzvah tomorrow... not wearing flip flops though. That's about it for a while. LOL
