Re: Shopping carts....

I bring them back... because I HAaaAAAaAAAAaaAAAAAAAATE when I pull into what looks like a parking spot and there is a friggan shopping cart there!

I even give people who just leave their carts in front of other people's cars a dirty stink eye.

it takes 2 minutes to put the darn thing back.

ah yes.. I would like to amend my reply to include:
I do not give mothers of small children stink eye. most of the time I'll offer to take the cart from them.

Re: Shopping carts....

Depends on whether or not they have the shopping cart collection spaces in the parking lot- then I do.

Most of the time I put them back, or leave them in the store near the rest of the carts.

ditto.

I do make sure its in a safe/secure spot where it wont roll into another car.
I usually secure it by the dirt/ledge.

I NEVERRRRR leave it "just anywhere". I put it out of the way and secure.

I wont walk away from my car (with my 3 kids in it) just to put a cart away. there's no "eenie meanie miney mo" in that decision Chat Icon

Re: Shopping carts....

I bring them back. Also, when I am going INTO a store, I will grab a cart that is just hanging around the parking lot and bring that in too. That way, I have one to use and I returned one.

I bring em back. If I am alone with DS I try to park right next to the return thingy.

Re: Shopping carts....

If I am alone (which is very, very rare, I usually have DS with me), then, the cart gets back.
However, what I try my BEST to do, is park right next to the cart return, so, I can just grab a cart, shop, and I can return it as soon as I am done.
If I have to park far, most of the time, I'll leave it, sometimes I'll return the cart and Carry DS back to the car...Sometimes.

Me too. DW and I usually park near an abandoned cart, so that we don't have to walk to get one. Plus, it takes one more out of the "running loose" count.

I usually put them back, though.

Re: Shopping carts....

I put them back. Our super market had those return things liberally spread throughout the parking lot. I don't have kids though.

Re: Shopping carts....

I put it back - I once worked at a store a long time ago and every night we had to go out and chase down all the missing carts.... I don't want someone having to chase down a cart because I didn't bother to return it.

ETA: I don't have kids - just me shopping!

Re: Shopping carts....

I bring them to the cart return EVERY time. If there is no cart return, I bring it to the front of the store.

This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I can't imagine that people are so lazy they can't walk a few dozen feet to put the cart back. (And, yes, I know people have children, etc., etc. -- but you managed to GET the cart when you got to the store, so you should be able to return it.)

I've actually been meaning to post a similar poll for a long time.

I have 2 girls under the age of 2.5 and I replied that I DO always take them back, but in fairness sometimes it's almost impossible...

Yes, we did GET the cart with the children, but if you've just purchased a ton of groceries, most likely you're going to put your children back IN the car first before packing your trunk, especially if it's cold. In that case, it may be impossible to walk the cart back to the "corral" if it's far away.

Exactly!!! Same here. My biggest annoyance lately is the stores that have someone round up all of the carts so often that there is none in the parking lot. It is a PIA to carry DD in with the cart cover & the diaper bag. I wish they would just leave a few in the corral outside.
