You can't touch those. You'd have a huge hole in your wall.
They weigh like 400 lbs anyway- they aren't going anywher

They are way too heavy to be ripped out of the wall- don't worry

Window units that you install yourself, yes, remove them and close the windows. A/C units that are fixed to the sides of the house do not remove them or you will have a hole in the wall as pp said.

Re: Should I be removing window unit A/Cs? Is this neccessary in a storm like this?
I was just telling DH that the thing I worry about is our AC's being blown in/out. We do have bars on our windows and around them, so I think they hopefully wouldn't go far, but I will talk to him about bringing them in

Re: Should I be removing window unit A/Cs? Is this neccessary in a storm like this?
We are taking the window unit out tonight. We have central AC but it wasn't working correctly so the landlord installed a window one for us. We're not taking any chances with it being ripped out of the window or being pushed in.

We're taking out our window AC and taking our chairs off the deck and tying down our garbage cans in the front yard.

We got notice from our complex telling us to bring in everything off the patios including furniture and bikes, potted plants etc.

We got a similar notice as well. They are doing construction on some of the buildings. I hope those building patios make it through the storm.

I got the same. I cna't really bring all that in though, DH is thinking of tying the chairs to the table & the BBQ to the tree.
They told us to secure our awnings--I don't really know what that means & why they would tell us to do that, since awnings are maintained by the maintence staff, not the owners.
I didn't even THINK of the ACs, until DH mentioned it last night. The smaller one he things will coem loose. The larger one is attcahed to metal brackets screwed into the brick. It will probably be ok, but that twindow leaks, so we should probably take it in, but it is going to be a PIA to do it. We don't take it out seasonally.

I didn't think of it either and, honestly, I don't want to do it! They were such a pain to put in! Took a whole day!
