Shower in a house or in a restaurant

I am not sure what to do. I had my bridal shower in a beautiful restaurant and I had the best time, but I felt like it went by so fast! I am not sure if I want my shower to be at my mom's house so that I can take my time and the guests don't feel so rushed. What do you think?

Personally, if your mom has the room I would have it there. JMPO for the reasons you have stated. It's more relaxed and not rushed. Enjoy either wayChat Icon

Re: Shower in a house or in a restaurant

I really like having it at someone's house as long as there's enough room and they don't mind all the work involved. It gives you so much more time to just enjoy the shower and you can really appreciate each gift as you open it.

Re: Shower in a house or in a restaurant

I had my first baby shower at a really nice resturant and like you said, it went by so fast and I couldn't really talk to everyone there. This time my mom is havin a sprinkle for me at her house, so it will be nice to just relax and talk to everyone.

My baby shower will be at home as well. I think it's more relaxed and comfortable and won't feel as "rushed" as it maybe would be if it were in a restaurant. People tend to hang out more and talk when at home IMO.

I had my bridal and baby shower at my mom's house. While I felt comfortable, my mom was running around making sure the food was ready. I felt that she didn't get to relax. So for shower #2, I think we're doing a restaurant.Chat Icon

I 2nd that...if there's enough room, then a house shower is the way to go. I once went to a bridal shower in someone's home and there simply wasn't enough room. There were around 50 people there, but only enough chairs for about 10 people to sit. It also rained that day, so going outside wasn't an option.

I prefer house...Every house shower I've gone to has been relaxing and fun.
So much better than restaurant showers which are always rushed and you never have time to socialize with everyone.

I personally prefer house showers. There is no rush and it always feels more intimate to me. I hope I have a house shower but I dont know if they would fit in one place

Re: Shower in a house or in a restaurant

I always like things done in homes. People do not always feel rushed to leave. It may be worth it to hire someone for the day to set up and clean up. I would imagine you could get someone for around $200 or less for maybe 5 hours of work. We used to hire people for summer BBQ's to man the grill and put things in and out of ovens every year for Memorial Day at my mother's house. This way, the host(ess) could enjoy themselves along with you.

Re: Shower in a house or in a restaurant

My shower was at mom and dad's.

Dad stayed in the kitchen and did the cooking of the appetizers that they made so that mom didn't have to rush around.

I loved it, and so did everyone that came - they felt so comfie and relaxed. I loved it, and wouldn't have had it any other way!

Re: Shower in a house or in a restaurant

I think showers in homes are so pleasant and also save the shower throwers a lot of money. The only reason my bridal shower was in a restaurant was because me and all of my friends have apartments that are really too small for showers.

Re: Shower in a house or in a restaurant

My mom wanted mine at home but there were over 45 ppl so it just couldn't happen. Instead, it was at Bellport CC and it was great. The food was really good and the room was a great size.

Re: Shower in a house or in a restaurant

We had my bridal shower at a restaraunt, but I requested that if my mom was going to throw a baby shower, to host it at my house. I didn't want a shower at all, so obviously I didn't want them to throw anything extravagant or costly. My house was ideal size wise and because of the larger property.

My mom and sister had it catered and hired someone to serve and cleanup. People raved about the food and my mom got to enjoy the party. Chat Icon

I prefer home showers because they're more informal and casual. I just find that I enjoy myself more when I'm at them.

I agree with everyone. I had my bridal at a beautiful restaurant too and wanted my baby one at my mom's. I think there are just too many people though...so they are planning it out!

We had my bridal shower in a great restaurant, but of course felt rushed.

My baby shower will actually be held in my backyard which is pretty big. I do hope it doesn't rain. We'll most likely get a tent too.

Re: Shower in a house or in a restaurant

i really wanted the shower at my moms so it was more casual and because i only got married two years ago and felt like i just did the restaurant shower thing.
However, my mom didn't want to have that many people in the house and she also felt that it would be harder for her to enjoy since she would be worrying about the guests and the food etc...
