Silly questions about 1st sonogram
Hey ladies..I am 4 weeks and scheduled my first sonogram for the beginning of my 6th week...now my silly questions are..do I bring my hubby with me?...will we be able to see anything?...I know, I know..this is all so new, that with the simplest things we are bumbling idiots. We are both like..is this just like a normal doc visit to the ob, where I really don't want him in the room! Or is it something that he will regret missing...Thanks for your advice in advance!! And have a happy HOT Saturday!!

My DH came to the first appointment and I was glad he did. Granted I was almost 9 weeks at the first appt/sono and we still weren't able to see much (you'll see even less at 6 weeks) but it was really special to have him there. We also met with the doctor and she asked us lots of family history questions - for both sides. Again, I was glad he was there because he was able to better answer about his side of the family better than I would have been on my own. Also, they throw a lot of info at you, and I find it helps to have another set of ears so you remember everything correctly.
Congrats and good luck!
eta: every doc is different with what they do in the first appointment, so don't be shy and call to ask what to expect. Mine did do a pap and breast exam as well because I was due for it, but did it after the sonogram and DH had left by that time. Then I went and had a ton of blood work and a urinalysis. HTH!

Re: Silly questions about 1st sonogram
DH didnt come to my first appointment , but I wasnt planning on having a sono just an internal . But b/c I had a m/c before and they couldnt find the heartbeat with the doppler I refused to leave until they did one Otherwise if I knew I was going to have one I would have asked Dh to come !! Now @ 4-5 wks you really cant see much so its totally up to you !!

Re: Silly questions about 1st sonogram
My DH comes to every appt. with me and I'm glad he does. I want him to feel involved and be there for every minute. FYI.........at:
5w5d - Saw just the gestational sac 6w5d - Saw the baby and the flickering HB 7w5d - Heard the HB
It's SO cool!! Lots of luck to you!!

Re: Silly questions about 1st sonogram
My doctor suggested I bring him to the first sono. We got to see the heart beat and he got to meet her and ask questions. She said he should come again for the 20 week sono too.

Re: Silly questions about 1st sonogram
My first appt was at 5 weeks, but it wasn't a sono so i went alone. My second appt wasn't until 8 weeks and it was a sono, so my DH camer along. My doc doesn't do sonos earlier than 8 weeks so that you will definitely see the heartbeat by then.

Re: Silly questions about 1st sonogram
Bring him! I had my first sono at 6w3d and we saw a teeny little baby and saw the heart beating. There is a pic in my pregnancy album.
