Ya know my heart breaks for you right now bc Ive seen within the last 4 yrs you go through all these triumphs and struggles of questioning whether you should contact your mom or leave it alone. You experienced so much. Marriage, grad school, having Cailen etc... Honestly, shes being selfish...thats what it is. Ive worked with many people who were mentally ill and her behavior is quite passive agressive. Consider your phone call right for you not right for her. You did it for closure with her. Look, liza ...you've moved forward with your life. Things have changed. Believe me, i hear you when you say you want something more from your mom but she is so unavailable right now. maybe in time she will realize that she may want a relationship with you again. At that time YOU make that decision. if you want to reconcile...go for it. At this time it doesnt sound like she is ready and you might get hurt even more. You have soooo many people that care about you. Dont look for the negative but rather stay in the positive...KWIM...

Thanks ladies....
The silver lining is that I know what type of mom to be for my son.
I know it is not completely her fault, but she never tried to help herself and pushed everyone away.

Liza, you are an amazing mother and an amazing person. Even though your mother is mentally ill, you don't have to take it. You extended an olive branch and she didn't want it. It's ok to finally be done. You know that I understand where you're coming from and I think that you are wonderful.
