Sitter City questions - how does it work?
So, I'm looking for a replacement for my current caregiver. Need someone to watch my boys (ages 2, almost 4, and will be newborn) 2-3 days/wk in my home.
I posted an ad for free on Sittercity, and now I'm getting e-mails saying there are people applying to the spot, but I can't contact them unless I "upgrade". How does this work? Do I pay to upgrade or do the sitters pay to have access to the ads (or both)?
TIA -- I don't want to not reply to some of the applicants --- KWIM?

You need to pay to join and reply. Look for a coupon code - there is always one out there for a free month.

In order to contact the "sitters" you need to pay. It usually takes a month to find someone, especially if you browse through the ads and contact people "you" would be interested in. Very often the 'sitters' that contacted me were very far (without transportation) or not what I was looking for. I had great success with both sittercity.com and care.com finding mother's helpers.
