I did it for the first few weeks. Being a first time mom I was nervous and I just wanted to be with her. Once I started driving her alone I stopped. Now I only sit in the back if she's hysterical or needs to be fed (which is rare.)
I also won't use a mirror - they just aren't safe. If there's an accident they can fly off and hurt the baby. and if I'm busy looking in the mirror who's looking at the road - it only takes 1 sec to get into an accident. She's generally fine. If I'm alone and she cries I sing to calm her down. If she's hysterical I pull over to make sure she's ok.

Until he was 14 months and we turned the car seat. He didn't cry but I just liked doing it and DH never had a problem with it. When we were together and I was driving for any reason, DH sat in the backseat as well.

I really only sat in the back the 1st week. Than I got one of those mirrors that plays music and we can see him now when we look in our rearview mirror.

Never- not even the hospital ride home..
I asked DH- "do you think I should go back there" and we looked at baby- and he was fast asleep...
DH looked at me and said "there really isnt any reason too"
So I didnt...
RJ has always been so good in the car...
Now if I could just get him to sleep by himself more than 3x's/week

I did for the first weeks/months. DH cant drive well when Bryan cries in the car. He doesnt like the car that much...

Never. I have terrible motion sickness when I sit in the back. My kids are content back there alone. Alec used to cry pitifully on every car ride, but he eventually stopped.

I've done it a few times only when she's been hysterical crying - or when we're close to home and I'm trying to keep her awake. But it's not very often. I don't want her to get used to someone sitting back there with her.

Me too!
Its bad enough I sleep in the living room with Cailen so DH can get some sleep at night - if I didnt sit next to him in the car, I would never spend any time with him at all!
