Sleepovers for Kids - Sleeping arrangements.

So DD is having a sleepover this weekend for some of her friends - there will be 6 kids total. I am trying to get them all some sort of a bed to sleep on - either a real bed or air mattress...they have to be in the same room obviously so thats a restraint. I was just speaking to a mom whose DD is having a sleepover the following weekend and my DD is attending and she said that she is just having all the kids bring a sleeping bag and they are going to lay on the floor...am I being crazy trying to organize beds? I know my DD will definitely not sleep well sleeping on the floor all night - she will survive but will definitely be tired the next time.

So whats the norm?

I would never arrange for beds for everyone, especially 6. When DS had friends over, they would sleep on the couches, if there were enough, or else the floor. Same when he goes to other houses. Sleeping bags and pillows on the floor are to be expected.
It's like camping, but with a much nicer tent... Chat Icon

Re: Sleepovers for Kids - Sleeping arrangements.

My oldest is only 5 so I don't have much experience. We had one family sleepover on NYE with friends and their kids. Her kids slept on the two couches in the basement and my boys slept on the floor in sleeping bags. They loved it!! Actually, they slept real well. I think it's more fun to do sleeping bags and so much easier. One less thing to worry about. Growing up we brought sleeping bags. Just make sure there's room on the floor. It was always on a rug too.
Too be honest... the comfort and lack of sleep is the last thing to worry about. Kids don't sleep as much at sleepovers. my nieces and nephews are older and always have friends over. Kids crash on the couch, floor, spare bed, etc. Usually much later than bed time anyway.
Enjoy and have fun. Tell the moms to bring sleeping bags and pillows and you worry about the rest.

We have sleepovers with my nieces. I have a family room with two couches so they usually just crash there. I wouldn't stress if some / all of them sleep on the floor ... they will probably like it. Chat Icon

I don't have kids...however, any sleepover I ever went to, everyone slept on the floor in sleeping bags.

Don't make it too comfy, they'll want to have sleepovers all the time! Chat Icon

We always just did sleeping bags on the floor as kids at other people's houses. I don't remember too many at my house, but we did have 2 pull out couches, so when my cousins would come over we would sleep on those ( 2 boys on 1, 2 girls on the other) even though my brother & I obviously had our own beds, but we wanted to be together.

Compared to our twin beds, they were big so we didn't mind sharing.

I don't have children, but the best sleepovers that I attended as a child included sleeping bags on the floor and making "tents" out of sheets and blankets Chat Icon

My mom use to have these foldable foam sleeping mats for sleep overs. Maybe something like that....I bet they still exist if you look on amazon or do a google. They were great. I want to say she bought them at National Whole Sale Liquidators at the time haha.

Tell them to each bring a sleeping bag and pillow for hygiene!

They are kids! they will be perfectly fine on the floor. Why spoil them??

Sleepovers for Kids - Sleeping arrangements.

I was thinking of hosting one but figured they'd sleep width wise on her full size bed and again on a full size blow up. But sleeping bags makes MUCH more sense !

Growing up it was always sleeping bags on the floor unless it was only two of you. If it was a group def did not get a bed.

1:1 sleepovers growing up we all always slept in eachother's beds or on couches. Group sleepovers we all crashed on the floor with sleeping bags. I'm sure dd will so the same in the future.

Wow could I come to your home. Not sure what people do these days. Sleepovers growing up were always sleeping bags on the floor often in someone's den. We aren't doing them yet, but asking around parents say sleeping bag unless it is just one other kid.

Sleepovers for Kids - Sleeping arrangements.

My son and daughter both had sleepovers almost every weekend from age 8ish till they were teens. My son regularly had eleven of his closest friends sleepover. They would squish in his room in sleeping bags when they were little, as they became big, hairy, sweaty teens they'd usually takeover his room and our family room on the floor, on couches, on aero beds if DS wasn't to lazy to blow them up.
My daughter had a high rise bed, so it was two twins. When she had two or three close friends they would all sleep on the two beds. When she had girls we didn't know as well I would set up air beds. When they got older it became more casual and they would sleep anywhere including the floor or our guest bedroom.
When they're little they all just want to be together in one room and they think sleeping bags are fun.
