Re: Smoking Ban spinoff...

But if you smoke why should you be allowed to liter so your car doesn't smell. Liter is liter. period. If you dont like the smell of smoke don't smoke.

I hate to say it but if you smoke in your car and you think tossing the butt out the window keeps your car from smelling, it doesnt. Cigarette smoke is absorbed into EVERYTHING.

Smokers:
1. Do you toss/flick your cigarette butts out the car window?

2. Do you put your cigarettes out on the street/sidewalk?

Non-Smokers and/or Smokers:
1. Does it bother you when smokers toss their cigarettes out the window?

2. Does it bother you when you see cigarette butts on the ground, whether it be the street, sidewalk, grass, etc.?

When I used to smoke I would toss it out the window, but I would "clip" it first to make sure that it was not still lit. Also, I would not throw it if there was a lot of cars around.

It now bothers me when I see people just toss a lit cigarette out & it bounces off someone else's car. IMO it's just rude....sorry.

The filter though, if it stays in the car produces a whole other level of smell.

I think it's rude and disgusting regardless of whether it's lit or not, or if it hits a car or not.

I hate it when people toss anything out their car windows, but smokers tend to piss me off even more b/c for some reason they think cigarettes don't qualify as garbage or litter.

And not a desireable level either.

True, the filter gets a "moldy" smell. Personally since I quit I am repulsed by all smoking smells, but the filter smell actually makes me gag.

My last question was a rhetorical one. Obviously I'm not going to start tossing diapers out the window. Chat Icon

And my statements aren't aimed directly at you. But your comment "The filter though, if it stays in the car produces a whole other level of smell" sounded to me like an excuse for disposing of your cigarettes out the window (when you did smoke) and I'm sure many smokers use that as their argument as well.

I agree.

And if the "filter" smell bothers you then clean the ashtray out when it gets that way. I'm sorry but regardless of what excuses smokers make- it does not justify throwing them out the window- making it everyone else's problem- including the environment, JMO.

ABSOLUTELY. It's littering folks. Where do you think it will end up? Would you do that at home?

When someone does that I want to go to their house and do it on their carpet

Re: Smoking Ban spinoff...

If you smoke and you don't want cigarette butts in your car, dispose of them properly when you get home. That is what I do with soda cans, old water bottles and tissues, so you can do it with your cigarette butts.
