did not get one for either child, nor did I expect one, nor do I feel it's necessary.

Re: So DH did a little poll of his own...
I voted for "other" because DH bought me the digital slr camera I wanted, but I got it when I was 4 months pregnant, not for pushing. But it was a gift I wanted to use for the baby so it sorta was a push present.

Did not get one... did not expect one or want one. I am of the school of thought that our DS was present enough!
ETA: I had never even heard of a "push present" until I started coming on LIF. \

What is a push present?
a present for pushing (the baby out)
Oh, weird well I have never heard of that before.
Well to answer the OP no I did not get one, I wouldn't expect one either. The way I see it the baby is present enough for me.

Re: So DH did a little poll of his own...
Never expected one but I got a claddaugh necklace with DS's birthstone and a onesie for Ryan with shamrocks which DH ordered from Ireland after our Ryan Patrick was born - I guess he was thinking I deserved something for given him an Irish lass

Re: So DH did a little poll of his own...
I got a shoe charm for my charm bracelet. DH had bought me the charm bracelet a few years earlier as a way to commemorate all the milestones in our lives together so it doesn't really qualify as a "push present".

Re: So DH did a little poll of his own...
I did. People make it out to be some materialistic thing when, at least for me, it's a commemorative gift that will forever remind me of my pregnancy and first born child. DH got me a gorgeous sapphire ring that I wear whenever I am not with DS (like every day at work).
People seem to get pretty worked up over this. No one "needs" it, the baby is obviously "enough" for all of us. But to get a gift from your husband for bearing his child is really not such an evil thing
ETA: I must be super vain - I actually didn't even push, DS was a scheduled cesarean
EATA: Just as a point of reference, I got flip flips for mother's day

Re: So DH did a little poll of his own...
Yep...I got a Tiffany diamond cross for Molly and an anniversary band when I came home with Jason. I never pushed in either case but Scott felt it was a gift that he wanted to give me both times. I actually treasure both gifts as they remind me of those very special days.

I didnt even know what a push present was until these boards
Nope- I didnt get one...
My husband did bring me flowers, and bought me some cute little things for the house. He made sure I always had lots of snacks and brought me up yummy dinners every night I was there!!!
My DH did the same and wrote a beautiful card to me and wrote me a song about the birth of our DD. THAT was THE BEST push present. Oh and we went to Hawaii when I was 6 months preggo ...he says that was my push present.

Not me. My push present was DH getting up the first week home and doing ALL the feedings! That was better than anything material he could have given me!

i am glad you posted this... i am not looking for a "push present" per se but i would like to buy something for myself to commemorate my DS' birth - but i also want to get something for my DH for the same reason. if my DH gets me something, great, but if not i plan on going shopping with him to pick something out for the both of us.
i think the term "push present" has gotten such a bad rap... none of us NEEDS anything as a "reward" for having a baby, but i think it's so nice to be able to look at a gift you received, or bought yourself, that you know will always remind you of the day your DC was born.

these threads always turn into this. No one said it was "evil" but I, for one, do not need a materialistic item to remind me of my pregnancy or birth. Those things are etched into my mind forever
I did not say there was anything "wrong" with it....I just think the term is ridiculous.
