I am sorry but i think it is wrong to make a whole entire thread that opens up a whole lot of judgment from strangers and to judge someone you even stated you barely know.
None of us know this girl, and you have not had contact with her in 5 years. Regardless of if what she says is true or not, none of us are in the position to judge her supposed actions.

I don't think it is legal to get an abortion at 6 months because a baby can actually survive at that point. My mother was actually a baby born at 6 months.
Did she say that she had an abortion 6 months AGO not AT 6 months? Either way it doesn't sound like someone that you really need in your life so I would definately blow her off.
Sounds strange that she would call you so out of the blue like that.

Well i am pro choice. However i am hoping that there was a medical reason to abort a pregnancy that late, b/c to wait long would just seem odd to me. This is JMO

thats horrible, however they can abort up to 24 wks, however, I dont think any doc would unless there was medical cause, or the parents opted to bc of downs syndrome or something of that nature.

Just a question here - but do you think she's full of it ? Or maybe a bit 'off' ???
I mean, WHO randomly calls someone out of nowhere 5 years since the last time you spoke and drops a bomb like that ??? -
Like 'Hey, How have you been? Oh me, I just had an abortion......."
Whether she was 6 DAYS pregnant or 8 MONTHS pregnant, that isn't really a normal topic of conversation with someone you are not very close with .....

Seriously though? Did the OP mention this girl's name or anything LOL. Many people have said they are liberal and pro-choice, but IF the girl said what the OP was pretty SURE she had heard correctly, how could you defend that person? If there was no medical reason in the world for her to wait till 6 months passed, why would she? Then, why would you call a person you haven't spoken to in 5 years and mention it in passing? Obviously this chick doesn't think much of being judged. SOmethings are just wrong plain and simple- that's why there are juries and yes, judges too. BTW I'm pro-choice.

That is just horrible but unfortunately from what I know you can find an abortion doctor and they will do an abortion as long as you're not in your last trimester.

All you have to do is open the yellow pages to see ad after ad for abortions performed up to 24 weeks. Technically 24 weeks is 6 months along....and doctors do NOT need a long history of medical problems from a patient to do it at that point, they take their money and do what is asked.
I think your friend sounds like she has mental problems. To admit something SO casually to a pregnant woman is disgraceful. And I agree with you...I just my baby at 18 weeks, waving his hands, yawning and fully formed and can't even fathom (unless of course there was something fatally wrong with the baby...different situation but it doesn't sound like the case with your friend...).

Unless there was a risk to the baby or mom I don't think there are doctors that would abort a 24 week fetus. Maybe she wasn't actually 6 months pregnant.

I don't think she would lie about an abortion but now that I think of it, she is probably a bit off. I was friends with her when I was a child. It's not like we hung out during high school, college, grad school, or the young professional years.
I spoke to my mom and told her that this girl called (didn't give any details). My mom told me to invite her over for dinner!  She remembers the girl when we were little kids.

I know someone who had an abortion around 6 months also, this was about 8 years ago though so im not sure if the laws have changed since then. She had no medical issues, already knew the sex, was already buying some baby items and then out of nowhere decided she wasnt ready to be a mother. Everyone i knew that knew her was ******. It was just so disturbing at that point.

I agree that this information is disturbing. And I don't think the OP heard wrong, because the girl justified it by saying, yea you can get it done it just costs more! so she obviously knew what was being asked.
Perhaps she is just a sick person and said to to you because you ARE pregnant?
IDK, but whatever the case may be, she is "off" to say the least and someone I def would not be calling back (or inviting over for dinner!  )

I have *heard* of some docs doing them even later than that.
While it is her choice, it would disturb me that it was done at 6 months.
