Re: SO Frustrated today
Please don't feel bad. It happens to a lot of people. When Sarah was a newborn and had colic one time I had to put her in her crib while she was screaming her head off and take a shower so that I couldn't hear her for a few minutes. It had been going on for hours and I was at my wit's end.
Can you drive to a big store like Target or the mall just to walk in the a/c?

Re: SO Frustrated today
I've been there. Lily was born in November and it was way too cold in Jan & Feb to go out. A drive sounds like a great idea. Or as Marcie also suggested, the mall. I hope your day gets better.
Try taking him in the bathroom and run the water. It always worked for Lily.

Re: SO Frustrated today
Our DSs must have called each other last night and said "Let's have our mommies do this today.
Don't feel bad. I walked out too. I even tell him.. "I'll be right back". He can see me in the other room. I don't know what is going on.'
I hope your day gets better.

Please don't feel badly. We have ALL been there
Who cares what you look like? Do you have a yard? Can you put him in the stroller and hang out in the shade in the yard?
Did you switch his formula yet?

Re: SO Frustrated today
I found myself getting angry when she would cry a lot at night in the beginning. And I didn't have anyone to hand her off to. I would just breathe and sometimes walk away for a minute and realize that she's just a baby, she doesn't know better.
Try laying him across your legs on his belly. That seemed to help Emma when she was crying a lot.
It's rough sometimes, hang in there :)

Re: SO Frustrated today
When DS was a newborn he had moments where all he would do is cry cry cry. At first I thought he was colic but he wasn't. He was just a gassy baby in the beginning.
Anyways one day he just wouldn't stop crying and I lost it and just literally yelled "just stop crying dammit"...We all have moments where we just loose it. It's ok...I still have moments when I snap at him. Especially when he's cranky and whiny... drives me nuts Sometimes I just snap and yell at him to just "Stop it". Then he cries harder and I feel bad immediately and pick him up and hug him...
We are human you know and will have moments of total frustration. Just as long as we have total control and not end up hurting our DC's.

I've been there. It does get better. What about just walking around the mall, at least it's A/C or how about the library or a book store to browse books.

Re: SO Frustrated today
We've all had these kind of days!! YOu have to remember you are human and humans get frustrated and angry. I would just put him down get drssed really fast and take him out. I stick DS in the sling and keep a bottle of water and wet washcloth with me for him and take him for walks.

I am so sorry! I have definitely been there. Bella gets so frustrating sometimes that I just have to walk away. When she's all cranked up a change of scenery usually helps.
Let me know if you need anything.

Re: SO Frustrated today
Oh boy, I feel your pain. This would happen all the time. I would sit on my porch and listen to my COLICY COLICY baby scream.
I remember I joined a mother's support group and the first day I went I hadn't slept in two days and when I got there I just burst into tears infront of ramdom strangers.
I know it's hard when it's this hot and not having any money.
What about a drive to mcdonalds for an iced coffee- I just did it b.c my DD refused to nap this morning. It was $2.38. I took it our of my daughter's piggy bank.
I know it seems really bad right now, but it will get better. It really will.
ETA: get a white noise machine.... it was the best money I ever spent.

Wait a minute - did you just cut and paste one of my posts????
There were days when this was totally me - including the please be quiet. Sometimes followed by a dammit.I agree its too hot for a walk, but thats what I always did. With my Ipod on. Walks are always free.
Good luck. I think I would kill myself if I would have been trapped in the house these past few days with Cailen.

Re: SO Frustrated today
Take a shower, you will muffle the sound and it will eventually become very therapeutic for you. (I call it "me time" and everyone knows death will follow if you interrupt my shower!) Then after that, dry your hair...if he manages to still be crying after your shower (and he's fed and clean), the noise (from the hairdryer) may actually put him to sleep. Then try vacuuming. After that, put him in the car and walk around the nearest mall/target/walmart/etc...
Hang in there...I get annoyed and upset with DS when he seems to be crying for no reason. Sometimes I find he needs another small feeding even if the time doesn't add up. (He'll get hungry after 2 hours instead of 3)

Re: SO Frustrated today
I had SO many days like that when Nikolas was a newborn, and sometimes I still do.. He was a colicy baby and is a challenging infant in general
I snapped many times at him when he'd be crying nonstop and would feel just horribly afterwards. So I would do what others have said.. just put him in his crib and let him cry (he was crying when I held him anyway so at that point there wasn't any difference) and would just walk away to compose myself and regroup.
For us, getting out was the only thing that worked on days like that. Even in the winter I would just go.. to the mall , througha drive through. just anywhere. For my sanity and his. Plus I knew the car would guarantee us a nap and he was just happy out of the house I think..
Hang in there..

Re: SO Frustrated today
You know I've been there so I know what you're going through. I am SO sorry you have to deal with this. It IS going to get better. But for now... just walk away for 5-10 minutes. YOU need to be OK to take care of the baby.
DO NOT FEEL BAD!! We have all been through it so we're here for you.

Bryan had colic when he was little soI have felt like this before. Once I had my BIl come over for an hour so i can run to the store and get a bottle of wine for myself I only drank one glass but it made me feel so much better and more collected and then before you know it Dh was home and I was much more composed.
