My kids are begging me to go to the Bronx zoo this week. I would rather have needles stuck in my eyeballs. But we all just came off a 10 day quarantine. They were so good about staying home, not being allowed to go to school or activities, not seeing any family on Easter, and they are on spring break this week, DH is home this week...but I am so not feeling family zoo fun.
I was there today. So much is closed and mines for what was open. Skip it!!!
We went last Monday and hardly saw any animals because of the lines. It was a waste.
I was there last Monday too. They told me the exhibits were closed due to high winds. Ummm...aren't these WILD animals? Aren't they meant to endure the elements? LOL Then they explained they worry if a tree fell or something and an animal could escape and attack.
Today's 1st world problem: I didn't get my grocery order in on time and now I have to physically go shopping tonight.

I have an unexpected day off tomorrow and want to take the kids somewhere since it's going to be so nice. I went to go purchase tickets for the Bronx Zoo and forgot tomorrow is the free day and tickets are released at 5:00 PM on Monday and sold out. So now I don't know where to take them... White Post Farms? Coney Island Aquarium- my aunt takes my DD there a lot. We went to the Riverhead Aquarium in January.... I don't know!
Instead of Bronx Zoo on Thursday we are going to Central Park. Just an idea. I am looking more forward to that then I was to the zoo lol.

Has it improved since the 90’s? Every year when it came time for the yearly class trip to the zoo we begged to go to the Bronx Zoo but that was too much effort so they’d drag us to Flushing Meadow to see parrots and one seal and it was terrible

Not really! We're from Queens, though we live in Nassau now, so we've seen a LOT of that zoo.
ETA: We were even looking at the new aquarium in NJ- SeaQuest Woodbridge? Also sold out!

Actually, you were the one who brought up a controversial topic on a post meant to be light.
I'd appreciate it if we could stick to fluff on here. Thanks!

There is way more than parrots and one seal at the Queens Zoo, or at least there was a few years ago. I think DS has outgrown it so we haven't been in a while but I remember two sections, one with more farm type animals and one with more zoo like ones. There are some kiddie rides and a decent sized playground. Food service is limited but I think I remember getting ice cream.

The petting zoo is okay. There was almost nothing when we went last summer for regular animals. We were disappointed.

It's definitely not the Bronx Zoo but it's also a fraction of the price and no bridges. Or maybe I have low standards lol. I liked that it wasn't huge and he was still entertained enough but I haven't been there since DS was 5 or 6. It's not for double digits or anything, that's for sure.

Re: So what first world problems are we having lately?
Just as an update: We went to White Post Farms and had an amazing day! It wasn't crowded, it was warm, there was so much to do. I got to pet and feed a giraffe so my day was made. Kids had a blast.

It's just warm and humid enough to be slightly uncomfortable, but not hot enough for the AC to kick in and get rid of the humidity....

Good problem to have.

I have had the opposite good thing happen! Finally lost almost all of my pandemic weight so I can fit in my clothes again.
But my FWP is I finally ordered ear buds and instead of going with AirPods i cheaper out and got something else and I hate them and have to return them. I hate returning things!!!
