Something I overheard at Criminal/District court on Thursday....
so I was there answering a traffic summons
There was this boy waiting with his mother and a girl waiting with her mother. The boy and the girl's mother were talking. What I got from being nosy bc I was bored  was that the boy was complaining how his lawyer keeps forgetting to show up...How school districts on Long Island completely abandoned him since they expelled him bc he brought a gun to school 
Then the girl's mother agreed with the boy saying how she hates NY.Everyone is so mean.All that her daughter did was bring in a gun to show her friend who asked to see it. Police came to the pep rally, the school took away her daughter's cheerleading uniform and suspended her but she is fighting so her daughter won't get expelled. And how this would never happen in Florida. Her daughter would have just gotten a warning.
I was like  
How could you not expect your kid to get expelled???
How could you be fighting this?
Just accept it and spend your time discipling your child!!!
I was just in for a traffic summons but was dressed in a suit. That boy was in baggy pants. The girl was in dazy dukes and on her ipod and the girls mother was in sweatpants.
The scariest part was the girl was no older than 13.
The boy was no older than 15.

I wish i knew what school these kids where from!!!! and i highly doubt that kids would have just gotten a warning in florida

Wait I don't think I read that right? "All they did was bring a gun to school" WHAT!?!?!?! Is that what I read?
They are lucky they aren't in Juvie forget about being expelled!
PS In Florida, all the schools have COPS like not security Guards REAL COPS COMPLETE WITH GUNS AND CUFFS you bet your sweet arse you'd get more then a warning there probably more then expelled too

Good for that school for expelling him. Not all schools will- in my school (NYC) we've had kids bring knives to school- no one's ever been expelled for it. And a kid did once bring a gun- I don't believe he was expelled either.

WOW!!! And people wonder why children act the way they do today. Look at the example the parents are giving them. It is a shame these parents don't find anything wrong with what their children did. Unbelieveable.

sorry, I just have to laugh at how out of touch those people are...
nice to ground your kids with good moral values and teaching them right from wrong.
geez, at their tender teen ages, they're literally already being picked up by cops and the parents are still
those people literally can barely function within the confines of societal expectations good job!

If my kid ever has to go to criminal court, I will make him figure out how to come up with his own money for a suit. I will get him a lawyer, though. I'd flip if I ever found out he touched a gun before the age of 40, unless he becomes a cop.

I am from FL and I can tell you they are expelled and charged just like NY. Below are a few examples so the woman can go and try that down here she wont get far:
Two Students arrested for bringing gun to school
Pasco 7th grader arrested for bringing LOADED gun to school
Tip lead to Stun gun at school

of COURSE they are.... Floridians are sensible people... any place that wouldn't do that to those students would be on the brink of anarchy!
I just love that they even said that about florida... wonder if they genuinely believe what they said

My daughter almost got in serious do-do for bringing a butter knife to school!!! The only reason she didnt get in more trouble is b/c
A. She is a "special" student
and
B. Because she was going to use it to cut her sandwich in half in the cafeteria..

It is scary. There are schools in the city I work in that the students have to go thru metal detectors to enter the school.

I would think that schools are extra strict now due to all the school shootings. Of course they are going to kick your kid out of school. I wouldn't want either of those kids in school with my kids. Also, where did they get the guns from? Obviously these parents just have their guns lying around. COmplete idiots!!!
