Sorry if this is a silly question... re: Clomid/Injectibles

What exactly do Clomid and Injectibles do?

How do they affect someone who already ovulates on their own?

Do they greatly increase the chances of multiples in that case?

Thanks!Chat Icon

my answer isn't too scientific, but it makes you produce more than one egg.

I was on 50mg this month and I had 2 eggs, they said if my IUI is not successful they will increase the dosage to increase the number of eggs produced.

I read that it is 10% chance of multiples.

I am also on clomid but I ovulate on my own. I'm on it to produce more eggs since we are doing IUI with severe male factor IF

It will help make more follies/better quality eggs.

Clomid and injections both increase the number and quality of eggs. The risk of multiples with Clomid is about 10% and on injections it is 25-30%. Women who ovulate on their own can still benefit from these drugs to increase their chances of getting PG in any given cycle. HTH!

I agree with the others and also was told that Clomid increases your chance of twins by about 10%. My doctor said that your chances of having triplets or more are not increased by that much (it's by a much smaller %). I am not sure what the %s are for injectibles.

I ovulate on my own and am taking Clomid in conjunction with my upcoming IUI.
