Sort of spinoff to "Delivery Day;" C-section moms...
were you allowed to eat right away or not?
I could only eat liquids--tea, jello etc.--for 24 hours after the birth. Meanwhile, I had just gone 12 hours without eating prior to the surgery!

I was not allowed to eat for 3 days. Only allowed Jello and broth/liquids.
I had not eaten for 21 hours prior to the c-section.
Only after I passed gas was I allowed to eat. 3 #)@#?> days!!!!

I feel your pain. I was induced and had a very long labor (30hrs) before winding up with a c-section. I didn't get to eat for days and just when I thought I was going to get some breakfast they came in with tea, broth, jello & an italian ice. I was on a liquid diet for two days due to a raging fever-I was so hungry!

I was allowed eat anything i wanted
I ate breakfast an hour after I gave birth to DD.

Same here. I hadn't been able to have anything to drink until after my c-section too. They told me not to drink after midnight. Then I wasn't allowed to drink anything while I was in labor. I finally got those ice chips after DD was born at 10:20 pm.

I had my c-section first thing in the morning. I wasn't able to eat or drink from 10pm the night before. I was then on a liquid diet for 24 hours after the surgery. I was starving!!!
But I wouldn't have been able to handle food....3 spoonfuls of beef broth practically had me vomitting.

No food for me the first 24 hours after the birth and then a liquid diet for 2 days after. Lost 32 pounds by the time I got home.....but I still had 15 or so to go.....those pesky pounds are still there....go figure

I hadnt eaten for hours beforehand...maybe my body knowing i was going to have an emergetncy c! then i begged for food afterwards...actually on the table i said honey i want a chocolate shake.and everyone laughed at me!
I had clear fluids the next morning and i think i was allowed to eat by that afternoon

My c-section was not scheduled so I had eaten breakfast. They gave me that little cup to drink since I had eaten. I had DS that afternoon, nothing that night and the next morning had I was able to have liquids but by lunchtime I was able to eat.

I didn't eat the night before and had babies at 12 noon. Got up to room at 8PM and they brought in the liquid crap diet but i wolfed it down. Then the minute i passed gas I buzzed the nurse to let her know and to know I would like a big breakfast the next morning. Which i got and then i told DH to bring me a huge deli sandwhich and Diet Coke on his way to the hospital which I ate like a pig at like 10AM. 
Everyone brought me food while I was in the hospital and I ate and ate and ate.

I was not allowed anything till the next day and it was only liquids. I didn't really care about food but I wanted apple juice right after and they wouldn't give it to me!

My water broke & I just had a shake, then I was in labor for 36 hours & ended up w/ a CS. It was liquid/clear fluids for 24 hours & then liquids/broths, etc. for another day.
I was starving by that 2nd day following the CS.
I also remember dying of thirst after having the CS & they couldn't give me anything but ice

when my OB came in right before the c/s (for #2) he asked if I had any questions/concerns. I said, yes, I'm nervous and when can I eat.
He wrote on my charts that I was allowed to eat as soon as I was feeling up to it. about 5/6 hours after the surgery and I was in my room, the nurse brought me a sandwich box. She didn't want to, but since it was on my chart she did.
for #1, I had him at 1130pm, so I slept until morning and ended up eating at 1030ish

I delivered at 5:57am by c-section after they tried for two days to induce me. For lunch it was only clear liquids but by dinner they let me have real food....I didn't really have much of an appetite though....

same here, but i had eaten dinner the night i gave birth. after the csection i had to wait to pass gas.

Same here, but my c-section wasn't planned and I had gone 32 hours (labor) prior without eating.

All I cared about was water. I drank gallons after I delivered, 2 pitchers in recovery. The nurses kept telling me to not drink so much. I said 'All you have given me all day were 4 damn ice chips. I'm drinking!'
I didn't care about food. But I was able to eat a liquid diet starting about 12 hours after delivery until 24 hours after delivery.
