After my c/s, my doc said NO solids until I passed gas Chat Icon We'll it took me more than 2 days. I am glad I waited though, as hungry and unappetizing as the food was. The last thing I wanted to be was bloated with gas with a c/s incision.

Re: Sort of spinoff to "Delivery Day;" C-section moms...

I delivered at 3:48 pm and only was allowed ice chips the rest of that day - I drank all the water after the ice melted in my room though. Chat Icon Breakfast and lunch the next day were clear liquids, but my doc checked on me that morning and told me if I felt up to it, I could eat solids. I had a regular dinner that night. I think my doctor's thinking was that it will probalby take longer to pass gas if you aren't really eating.

I had a c-section at 6PM, but didn't get out of recovery until 10:30 (toxemia issues). I asked for hot tea but they would only give me ice chips in recovery. Chat Icon Chat Icon Once in my room I was too exhausted to care. First thing in the AM though I had a full breakfast.

I could only eat liquids--tea, jello etc.--for 24 hours after the birth. Meanwhile, I had just gone 12 hours without eating prior to the surgery! Chat Icon

Same for me.

I was on a clear diet (apple juice, jello, broth, Italian ice) for 3 days, almost 4. It was torture at the end!

This is how it was for me...I'm just curious why there are such varying ways they handle this & nothing standard across the board...

I was induced for 3 days but at night they would let me eat one meal from 6 - 7.

So I hadn't eaten in 24 hours before the c-section at 6 pm and I was on clear liquids for breakfast the next morning and I believe I was able to eat dinner then.
