While I know there are a few people on this site that are very involved and educated about politics, I go back to a statement I've made several times here:
Most people don't know what they are talking about when it comes to debating the issues and the politicians.
And yet the beauty of it is, educated and informed or not, we are all entitled to an opinion and if we are a citizen and 18 y/o, we can vote!
Yes, happy to live in a democracy, I just wish people wouldn't take the right to vote for granted.
People died for this right and yet so many either remain apathetic or uninformed about something that can make or break this country.

Missed the thread with the nasty Republican comments but I'm sure they'll be another one I'll catch.
I know for me personally the Republican Party (or at least the current administration) represents values I abhor - stem cell research potential veto, anti-choice, anti-gay marriage, pro-war. That's not to say that every Republican votes the party line - which is why you need to research candidates to find out what they do value.
While I try not to take the whole group lumped together, it's difficult for me to separate them. I know plenty of fiscal republicans who stand for most of the platforms that are important to me.

my Uncle always says there are 2 topics he will never debate: religion and politics.
no one will win and people just end up getting pizzed off.
Exactly. I don't get involved in these political debates because they always get heated..and political opinions rarely change.
To be honest, I don't even think I want to know how someone leans politically because I start thinking of them a little differently. I'd be lying if I said that wasn't true.
