Spin off- what are you doing for thanks giving?
Are you hosting, or going to someone else's home? What do you do in the morning before dinner?
We are thinking of hosting this year, not sure yet though. Depends on my inlaws and if they feel strongly about having dinner at their place

Going over SIL's house. There's not going to be that many people. I love Thanksgiving and can't wait for the yummy food!

Re: Spin off- what are you doing for thanks giving?
This year we are going to MIL house for dinner, it will be low-key only a few people. We will probably go to my aunt's house for dessert because she live's like 10 minutes from MIL.
In the morning I usually cook side dishes and bake with the parade on in the background.

We are going to my aunts house and celebrating with all of our cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. If everyone goes there is around 25-30 of us.
In the morning we just relax, I make a nice breakfast, and we watch the parade.

I am not going to Toys R Us.
This year is DH's family's turn, so we are spending it with them.

Waking up and watching the parade on TV like I do every year and cooking a few sides to bring to DH's family's house in the afternoon, then my uncle's house later in the day.

Going to my mom's. We try to alternate every year. Next year will be the first thanksgiving with a baby so my dad offered to host both sides of the family so everyone gets to spend the first thanksgiving with the baby.

I am not going to Toys R Us.
ETA: My cousin is hosting but I think DH and I will go to Poconos with my DS and SS. Have a small intimate Thanksgiving and may be my sister will be able to come with my neices and her DH. Basically still up in the air.

DH and I are going to Texas to spend it with my Mother in law and her husband. I'm so excited! I love it there! Since it will just be the 4 of us, I'll help her cook and prep for dinner.

Re: Spin off- what are you doing for thanks giving?
Thursday at my sister's for dinner. In the morning I bake/cook stuff that I will bring along. Parade is on TV in the background. I pop out of the kitchen every once in a while to see the floats.
Friday, thinking about hosting Chanukkah/mini Thanksgiving at my house with our close friends. I have had them over in the past for "leftover feast day".
Since Sunday will be the first Sunday in Advent, I will probably head to the cemetery to lay grave blankets at my mom and MIL's for the holidays.

My parents are hosting. IL's sleeping over, we'll watch the parade together then get ready and go to my parent's house where my family will be. Exchange Hanukkah gifts then have Thanksgiving dinner.

DS will be in CA with my dad. I'll be cheering on my friend at a turkey trot.
The evening could be either at a friend's or at my mom's... not sure, yet heck, we might eat out

The morning of Thanksgiving I am going to cook the sides and desserts while watching the parade with DD.
Then we are going to my Dad's for dinner. My dad and I might go shopping depending the Target, Kohls and Best Buy ads.

Re: Spin off- what are you doing for thanks giving?
Running around like crazy & sitting in traffic!
It's a holiday tradition!
I think the tentative plan is stopping my in-laws in the morning (near us) us and then driving an hour to LI to spend the rest of the day/evening with my family at my parents house.

We host at our house. We'll probably have around 10 people or so over. I'm not sure what DH's family has planned for Hanukkah.

Re: Spin off- what are you doing for thanks giving?
We switch families every other year, this year it's DH's side. We are going to his aunt's house, I'll probably be asked to make an appetizer or a dessert.
We have a tradition on Thanksgiving. Every year we get up and watch the Macy's Parade while drinking egg nog and eating breakfast. The holidays get so hectic since we both have big families so I really appreciate the down time with just DH and I.

Re: Spin off- what are you doing for thanks giving?
This year we're hosting - My dad & step mom are coming up from SC. My DH's family will be coming to our house, and DH invited his brother's wife's family too. We're looking at about 15 adults and 6 kids.
The morning- we'll be preparing side (for baking) and everything. Last minute set-up and cleaning.

Re: Spin off- what are you doing for thanks giving?
I host thanksgiving. I have hosted almost continuously since 1999. Even when I moved back into my parents house for law school I still cooked everything but technically my parents "hosted" those three years.
In the morning before everyone comes over I am cooking. This year since it is also Hanukkah my mom is going to come over the night before to help me make latkes from scratch.

Not shopping
Thanksgiving Eve is one of my favorite nights of the year to stay in and bake.
Thanksgiving Day: DC and I will go to my mom's to help set up.
Dinner with my family. Depsite the drama of the other thread, I love Thanksgiving. It's a day to be grateful for what you have and to just be with family.

Hailey & I are visiting my sister in Vegas. I did this every year until 2010. We usually watch football for a while then start prepping all the food... nothing special
