Spinoff from Pot

Even though I do not smoke (makes me very hungry-heh, I'm on ww-lol! and I don't want to with the kids always up in the middle of the night), I wanted to know what people-who never tried it think the difference is between drinking and smoking pot.

Re: Spinoff from Pot

Isn't it one of them illegal vs. the other one?

Re: Spinoff from Pot

I've never gotten paranoid drinking. Also- I feel like drinking is more of a social thing- I don't drink to get drunk. However, people smoke specifically to get high.

Your buzz from drinking lasts longer that from being high.

I HATE drunk people when I am NOT drunk. They are extremely annoying.

Re: Spinoff from Pot

It's possible to like the taste of alcohol. I don't know if people smoke pot for the taste. I've never heard anyone say that, at least.

I suppose the difference to me is the intent. All people who drink alcohol don't necessarily do it to get drunk. But all people who smoke pot do it specifically to get high.

There's a lot of differences.

1. no hangover from pot

2. stoners are much cooler to hang out with than alcoholics (ok that is a matter of opinion lol)

3. pot can be a philosophical/spiritual experience while i don't believe using alcohol can be

4. while still very controversial, pot can have healing benefits for people who have diseases (can help with nausea, etc. in cancer/AIDS patients) while alcohol can't

5. alcohol is addictive - pot (jmho) is not (and i mean addictive by your body going through withdrawal)

6. nobody has ever died from ingesting too much pot...MANY many people have died from ingesting too much alcohol

That's not exactly true. Someone close to me went through a really hard time with pot withdrawl and it almost ruined his life. It can completely be addictive!

I'll take your word for it but I've known a lot of pot heads in my life and I've never known any of them to go through withdrawal (vomiting, shaking, delusions) when they stop.

I think the worst I have seen someone not have pot in awhile is moodiness.

I'm not sure if the withdrawl symptoms are the same....but that doesn't mean it's not addictive to the point where it begins to take over your life and you can't stop it.

I 100% agree. Drinking can cause violence. Weed causes melloness or happiness.

I know what you mean. I meant actual physical symptoms of withdrawal. I 100% agree that pot is one of many things that people can be psychologically addicted to that can negatively effect your life.
