Anyone find their migraines got worse after pregnancy? Before I was PG with DS I only got migraines 1x per year. After he was born they started coming every 4-6 months. Mine are severe...I usually wind up in the ER because, in addition to losing my vision, I will lose feeling in one arm and if the headache is on the left side my speech becomes affected. I am literally scared to death of having another child. Anyone with the same or different experiences?

Mine actually improved after DD1, but returned to where they were prior to her after DD2 was fully weaned. So I think each pregnancy affects us differently

I also lose my vision, get paralysis on the left side of my face, nausea, dizziness, hearing issues................ I have to catch them when I feel them coming on. For me, I can tell because I get super irritable.

Have you met with a good neurologist who specializes in migraine?

I am actually going to call a specialist that one of my co-workers recommended (Drs Rudansky and winters?).

I only have one DS but I have the same symptoms. I used to have horrific ones but they were due to stress (I would see an increase during work deadlines, breakups etc). I know that my hormones are causing the recent ones. I had an aura with blurred vision and loss of feeling in my left arm. I also felt paralyzed on the right side of my face. As soon as I took the second imitrex I had relief. It is the WORST

If you are not already you should be seeing a neurologist that specializes in headaches. I see Dr Turner in Plainview. He is great. His goal with patients is to never have a headache that lasts more than 2 hrs. He gets migraines himself so he understands.

I had the same exact symptoms. I used to think I was having mini strokes - I was shocked those are migraine symptoms! Mine were most severe pre-children (vision loss, numbness, slurred speech) and when I was pregnant they went away completely. I got pregnant with my 2nd child when my 1st was only 11 months and did not get them for that pregnancy either. I thought I was cured. I didn't get them for a while after my 2nd was born but I think once my hormones were all back in order they came back but not nearly as bad. It stinks but I have to say they are a lot more mild than they were pre-children. Now when I get them I get the vision loss and then sometimes can get away with extra strength tylenol at work and the actual headache is bearable. If I take my migraine medicine I feel 100% better. Good luck!

mine got a lot worse after pregnancy. a lot. it's debilitating. or at least it was.

they don't come around as often. i was having them multiple times a month. it was awful.

changed a lot of what i eat, and they went away. one came back the day after a junk-food weekend. and by junk food, i mean processed food.
