Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
I'm just curious what most companies offer for paid maternity leave (my company does not offer any).
Also, if you do get maternity leave is it full pay or a portion of your salary?
I also wonder if it varies by industry. I am in Civil Engineering which historically was a male field, so maybe that plays a part.
This is turning into a complicated survey *phew*
Thanks!
ETA: I'm really curious about what your company gives you specifically for maternity, more than sick/vacation/personal time to be used as maternity, NYS Disability or FMLA. Thanks, sorry I can be super anal working in engineering and all

my company is 8 weeks (vag)/12 weeks (c-sec) non-paid, but you can use dissability which I'm trying to do. I'm in a primarily male industry. Media Sales Rep.

I think it's 6 weeks paid full salary for vag delivery, 8 weeks for c-section.

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
I get 12 weeks of FMLA leave, but only 6 or 8 weeks (depending on type of delivery) are paid at only 50% of my salary. It comes from short term disability that we get through the company. Then I can use any of my accrued unused sick/personal/vacation time for the rest of the 12 weeks.

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
6-8 weeks at 70% maternity short term disability 4 weeks at 100% 'bonding time'
Plus my vacation days at 100% - 2wks
Sick days are 100% but they use those concurrently with my maternity leave short term disability - 8days
The sick days at 100% get tricky since I'm leaving early on Medical disability (doctors orders).
Then I'm taking two weeks unpaid *sigh* and coming back the week of xmas.

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
6 weeks full for vaginal, 8 for c section. If I go out for medical reasons before I get 6 weeks full then unlimited time at 1/2 pay until I am medically released to go back to work.

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
I have no clue. My employer is too small to fall under FMLA so technically I'm not even entitled to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. I don't expect to get paid, but it would be nice to at least get a little something. I guess I'll find out in a few months.

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
I get 4 weeks before the due date at full pay. After delivery, I get 6 weeks for vaginal, 8 weeks for c-section at 2/3 pay. Then I can add on vacation.. I am hoping to add on an extra 6 weeks at full pay...

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
I chose Other in the poll. I get 4 weeks/ + or - depending on when I give birth. I am put out 1 month before my due date, but if I deliver 2 weeks early- I lose those weeks. Then again if I deliver 1-2 weeks after my due date, I am still getting paid- full salary.
After delivery: I get 6 weeks for a vag birth or 8 weeks for a c-section. HTH! It sucks that you don't get ANY maternity leave!!

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
I get 4 weeks of supplemental pay (full salary) because of how long I have been with my Company (6 years)
Then I get 2 weeks of Parental Leave (full pay)
After those 6 weeks of full pay, I can use sick/vacation time
I also collect short term disabilty which is 66% of my pay
I work at a law firm (Im a paralegal)

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
I work for a small PR firm (less than 30 employees) and I thought my leave was very generous for a small company that didn't have to give me anything - I received 6 weeks leave full paid and then I took an additional 2 weeks of vacation time - fully paid as well for a total of 2 months.

I have 16 weeks fully paid, and additional 8 weeks "phase back" period if I chose to take it. 23 days paid vacation (it varies by corporate title) and unlimited sick days. I am in the financial industry.

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
My company gives:
Vaginal Birth - 6 weeks at 100% pay C-Section - 8 weeks at 100% pay
Health insurance covered the entire time on leave with only the normal deductions coming out.
FMLA runs concurrent with maternity leave so that gives 4 - 6 weeks additional unpaid leave with job protection at which time you can grab NYS disability.
ETA: You can take vacation time if you want after the disability portion so long as your boss agrees but you do not have to - it's not required to deplete this time.

Re: Spinoff: Paid Maternity Leave?
I get 7 days paid maternity. Then I get 6 weeks vaginal, 8 weeks csection short term disability @ 60% of my salary. I also get the NYS disability.
We don't accrue sicks days @ my job. We are allowed 4 sick occurences per year & they each can not be more that 7 days long (after 7 days it becomes short term disability). After 2 days you are required to bring in a doctors note.
So I can use one sick occurence when my disability runs out. 7 days is one week & 2 days so I will probably take 3 days vacation to make it an extra 2 weeks in total.
In total I will be out for 8 weeks if I have a Vaginal birth & 10 weeks if I have a csection.
