Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
We're not just interfaith
My car is Foreign (Mazda) and I don't think I could ever buy Domestic.
DH's car is Domestic (Chevy), he'd never buy Foreign.
Our parents are the same as we each are (mine only Foreign, his only Domestic).

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
At the moment we have a Toyota and a Honda. In theory, I really want to buy American, since everything else I buy seems to be made in China. But my first car was a Plymouth, and I had tons of problems with it. Growing up, we had Fords and leared that it meant "forever on road dead" so I won't try one of those again either.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
Until my recent car which I bought last year, all my cars were domestic. Now I have a Honda. DH has a domestic.
I am not against US cars. I just did not find it this time for what I was looking for.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
We have 2 Chevys We did have forgeign cars (twice, never again). I have a german sports car & DH had a Japanese pick-up (but it was built in the USA). I definately prefer American trucks.
DH bike is Chinese though. I would love to get him an American bike, but they are just too darned expensive to buy & to maintain.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
When I went to buy my first car, my father said I could buy a foreign car but that no foreign car would ever be parked in his driveway
My family only buys American, and DH has an American car too.
I know it is cheesy, but it is the biggest purchase I will ever make and I would rather support an American company with it.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
After over 20 years of owning cars I bought my first foreign car. American car companies & their wastefulness with fuel & their inability to change with the times forced me to buy outside of the big three. My DH has an American truck that he isn't planning on replacing anytime soon. He wants an American made car.
I for one can no longer support the antiquated ways of US car makers.

My Toyota - I suppose it's considered Foreign but it was actually built at the Toyota plant in TN I think? So what does that make it?
My Ford is domestic.

We both own Fords, but this summer, I set aside my Ford and got a Hyundai Sante Fe. Although, it was built in the US.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
It is difficult to answer because although our cars are foreign the companies are currently owned or used to owned by American companies
for example:
Ford owns: Ford, lincoln, mercury, volvo, mazda until recently they owned Land Rover and Jaguar also.
GM owns: Chevy, GMC, hummer, Saab etc.
Chrysler owns Dodge, Jeep etc. and used to own Mercedes Benz
we have a volvo, land rover and mazda
