Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
DH and I have both only owned Japanese cars. I've had a Mazda 323, a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Camry and now a Honda Odyssey.
DH's first car that he bought was a Honda Civic, then he used my old Toyota Corolla and now my old Toyota Camry since he just drives to the station.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
I drive a Toyota, DH drives a Chevy pickup. We both agree that the quality of the Toyota blows away anything domestic.
Our next car will definitely be foreign-made.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
both cars were made in japan and shipped to the US..... one toyota and one scion.
hate to say it, but my experiences with both american and german cars are Never again.... Cars made in japan? so far, no problems at all. very good QC....
if the US wants to be competitive for my consumer $'s, they must increase both the style factor and QC. I refuse to have repair bills like I had in the past...

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
We will only ever buy Toyota or Honda. In our experience, those have been the most reliable. DH's old Chevy gave him so many problems. My parents always bought Fords until my brother got a Civic. They say they'll never go back to them (dad/step-mom/sibs have 2 hondas and 2 nissans)
My other parents (mom/step-dad) only buy Volvo's.

It is difficult to answer because although our cars are foreign the companies are currently owned or used to owned by American companies
for example:
Ford owns: Ford, lincoln, mercury, volvo, mazda until recently they owned Land Rover and Jaguar also.
GM owns: Chevy, GMC, hummer, Saab etc.
Chrysler owns Dodge, Jeep etc. and used to own Mercedes Benz
we have a volvo, land rover and mazda
Technically, Daimler (Mercedes) owned Chrysler, not the other way around.
We own "American" cars. However, my "American" PT Cruiser was owned by a German company, and built in Mexico.... My "American" truck was owned by the same German company, and built in Canada....
I've owned a mix of American and foreign cars. I've never had anything but trouble with the foreign cars. For me, the American cars were built so much better, and lasted much longer. I'm not saying I am blind to other brands, but I buy based on my own experience, needs, and likes. Right now, I can't see myself getting a Toyota or a Honda....

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
One of each a Jeep and a Toyota. DH loves Jeeps, so we'll probably always have one of them and I am not a fan of American cars, I have had them in the past and have not been happy with the quality.

I have a Honda, DH has a Toyota and we have a Dodge that sits under a cover in our yard because it died on the PA Turnpike a year and a half ago and hasn't ran since.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
We are both foreign and have been for awhile. We were all american for many years and EVERY car gave us tremendous headaches to our wallets=and they were new! I lost a job because of my pos brand new ford that went into the shop for transmission rebuild for a month when it was 2 weeks old.
I'm sorry, i'll never buy american again, I love my Nissan's, never had any issues with any of them in 8 years.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
DH has a domestic car (Holden, which is an Australian car, but is a subsidiary of GM in Australasia).
I don't drive in Australia. When I lived in the US, I drove German cars.

Re: Spinoff to Auto Industry: Are your cars Foreign or Domestic?
Found a site that lists what country cars are built in. It's not a convenient chart, so you have to drill down for each manufacturer, but I'll post a few of them to show how "foreign" or "American" cars are....
