Spinoff to Carpal Tunnel post
I haven't been diagnosed with carpal tunnel or tendinitis (I just call it "new mommy wrists") but I am in SOOOO much pain. Both wrists. From reading these posts am I to believe it may not go away on it's on without a cortisone shot or surgery? DD is 4.5 months now and the pain just gets worse and worse. It's so tender to even light touch. AND yesterday her stroller fell right on one of my wrists. I literlally saw stars and could barely lift her for a long time after.
DH keeps nagging me to see an orthopedist, and I'm procrastinating b/c of my fear of a cortisone shot.

Re: Spinoff to Carpal Tunnel post
some things i can suggest...
1. get to a doctor. you may be surprised at the changes you can feel with a brace & the right 'stretches'.
2. rest your 'hands' as often as possible. i'm trying to think of how to describe the 'pose'..... bend your arm at the elbow and lay it across your stomach and just let your wrist REST...
3. for me - an INTENSE deep tissue massage (one that left me quite literally bruised & crying on the massage table) made a MASSIVE difference for me. the woman told me point blank, this is going to hurt and boy did it - but before she was even done - i could feel blood flow returning to my arm.

This is what i have. It is so painful. I couldnt even put my hair in a ponytail. I fear dropping DS. Try taking advil. It is caued by inflamation
I got a cortizone shot about a month after Ds was born. Dr said it is common in new moms. In fact it was named because of this - just dont remember the name. After the shot it was much better. He said it gets better after the first shot for a lot of people. It came back for me and just got my second shot on tuesday. Its feeling a little better ready.
Dr said if it doesnt get better there is a small procedure he can do in which they cut the tenden. It is called decore vein release.
My dr is supposidly one of the top drs for arms/ wrists etc. If you want his info fm me.
