Re: Spinoff to eye color....why are we so down on brown?
I truly think the only reason for the preference is because brown is so much more common- it's *different* to have blue eyes.
I WISHED for brown eyes for DD- it meant more of a likelihood that she'd inherit his tan skin. NO SUCH LUCK- she got blue eyes and she's lily-white like me.

Re: Spinoff to eye color....why are we so down on brown?
I married into a Puerto Rican family where everyone has brown eyes.
When Josh was born with blue eyes, Leo was excited and said that Josh was the first fam member born with blue...inlaws said he did not count since he is white
Now I am hoping that my next kid is blue as well-so they can not count together.
I love brown eyes as well...from what I have read, they are not as light sensitive, so that is a plus.
I always felt leftout at parties when brown eyed girl came on

Re: Spinoff to eye color....why are we so down on brown?
i have green eyes.. growing up i always wished i had brown because i was the odd-child out.. i got my moms eyes and the rest of my siblings got my dad's brown eyes.. all 3 of them different shades though. i was soo jealous.. but i have learned to love my eyes and all other eye colors too.. dd has gorgeous blue eyes.. so to me eye color doesnt matter, theyre all pretty in their own way.

I'm not sure why some people are down on brown. I love brown eyes and only ever dated guys with brown eyes cause they make me swoon. I have blue eyes and secretly hope my babies have brown eyes like daddy!

I wanted my children to get my eye color (green), but now I love DS#1's eyes- I call them chocolate pudding eyes

My best friend in college had these big enormous dark brown eyes with long lashes. she was quite stunning looking, but everyone always commented on her eyes!

Re: Spinoff to eye color....why are we so down on brown?
My 2 year old (blond and blue) gets way more attention than my 4 year old (brown and brown like mommy and daddy ).
I don't know if it's the blond/blue combination or if he's really THAT cute , but I really dislike it when people comment on his "beauty" in front of my other one - who happens to be adorable! I appreciate the compliments in general, but use some common sense!

Re: Spinoff to eye color....why are we so down on brown?
My DH has brown eyes, mine are hazel - DD has blue still at 8 months old...I find I always tell people with brown eyes that I hope DD's eyes stay blue and then I say "but there is nothing wrong with brown".
I think since brown is so dominant - I just want DD to have blue - more towards my color and a majority of the family.

My son has brown and he is GORGEOUS
Actually, I can't lie...they change color; light and dark brown, dark blue and grey.
