WOW!!! How do you pump so much while nursing? How often do you pump and nurse? I hardly had a stash since I was always nursing VERY efficient eaters! 
i pump once a day, either at night or first thing in the morning. i usually get between 6-10oz depending on the day.
eta: i have to do it because i get so engorged!

Go you! The most I ever had was somewhere around 400oz. I had to stop stashing at that point because we were running out of room in the freezer for food

That's amazing! I never managed to have any to freeze. :( The most I'd get was 4oz pumped out a day and that would be used when we visited people so I wasn't hiding in a room BFing all the time.

the milk composition changes frequently - i never used milk that was older than 3 months old as a rule. just wondering

i hope you weren't throwing any of your breastmilkl away... lactation consultants and many websites, etc say that BM is good for at least 6months. i have a deep freezer that gets opened once a week and it is said to be good for a year. right now my oldest dated milk hasn't made it to the six month mark, so i'm am feeling good that my DD will always have BM to drink for at least her first year of life.

No I never threw out any BM- I jsut made sure I used it within three months, not so much because I felt it wouldn't "keep" in the freezer but because I had read that the composition of your breast milk changes with your baby- that is why it is perfect nutrition. that being said, i you pump milk when you baby is 3 months old and then give that milk to them when they are 9 months old- your baby is getting milk suitable for a 3month old. I could be wrong on this though- anyone else hear this?

i think the fat content decreases as the baby gets older, that's why at 6 months you introduce solids. so i guess if you gave early BM to an older infant it would not be detrimental , just more filling and fatty than what they were nurisng off of you at that point in time.
