Spinoff to Teacher & Invitations: How Did you Invite Kids to Your Parties?
Just curious, how did you invite children to your birthday parties? I really don't remember how I did this, and I don't remember people passing out invites in school, but I suppose they might have done this.
My birthday is in the summer, so I'm guessing my mother mailed them or called other parents. I did not invite everyone in my class--some kids I was not friends with, and I suppose others my mother just didn't know.

I thought about the same thing when I read that thread. I have no idea...I really can't remember. I know I didn't invite the whole class. My classes always had at least 30 kids...I have no idea how my parents would have handled a party with that many kids.

We always mailed them. I can remember sitting down with my mom and the class list going over names of people to invite.
This is what I do with my children now.

I am pretty sure that most of my friends my parents knew. When I got older I verbally told them. I dont think we gave mickey invites at 10 yrs old

We gave them out in school (although I usually had only "girl" parties back in the day).

We gave them out in school. I was never not invited to a class party but there were plenty of kids that were excluded. I'm glad we are more understanding these days.
I don't get why people think it's to shelter children. Is it ok for an adult to walk around at a gathering handing out invitations to some & not others?

my mom made us invite the whole class or sometimes "just the girls" and vice versa for my brothers.
Not until we were older did we pick and choose who we invited. And then we mailed invites. (I was also old enough to fill them out myself and address them).

I think I had a birthday party in 4th, 5th and 6th grades. We passed out invites at school. I always invited all the girls in my class.

This year I did emails and text messages. I asked the mothers at nursery for their mobile numbers, so it was easy.
