SPR: Moms with thyroid issues
I have PCOS and since having DD in March, I have only gotten AF once!! Some would think that's great, but I PMS EVERY month (cramps, break outs, etc.) and NEVER get an actual period. Went back to my OB/GYN, and had a sonogram and blood work. As usual, I have cysts on my ovaries, but my blood work revealed an elevated TSH level (7.3). My DR wants me to go back to the endocrinologist (I went before getting PG b/c of the same problem, but being pregnant actually wound up leveling everything out!). If I understand this correctly, my thyroid is sluggish and not working to its capacity, therefore creating the elevated TSH. So for moms with a similar issue, would you mind answering some questions for me?!
1) What were you symptoms? How did you realize something might be wrong with your thyroid? 2) How were you diagnosed? 3) What does your treatment involve?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Re: SPR: Moms with thyroid issues
My thyroid was diagnosed through bloodwork done at a routine physical. At the time I didn't pick up on the symptoms. Now I know when symptoms for me signal something is off. They usually are feeling slugish, muscle fatigue in my thighs that feels like I did a major workout, and sometimes I get a down feeling, not a depressed feeling but a blah type feeling. The treatment is usually synthroid a medication to regulate it. It's usually something that you take everyday and sometimes needs to have the dosage changed. Hope this helps.

Re: SPR: Moms with thyroid issues
My RE actually found my thyroid issue (hypothyroid) through routine bloodwork...I also have PCOS...I have had a lot of weight gain, thats really the only symptom that I feel is directly related to my thyroid that I can think of...Since being on meds, I don't notice any real change in my energy level etc...
I am on the generic version of synthroid ( levothyroxine) and have had my dosage adjusted quite a few times since being on it...The thyroid affects many things ( one of which is fertlity )
