Re: starting meats...
We didn't start meats until around 9 months... we were slow in introducing foods. And we don't give jarred meats, I make the meat for him at home. In fact, last night I made some baby chicken meatballs for him!

Same here. We just started meats at nine months and only make him meat and I do not like the jarred meat.
ETA: We didn't start our DS on cereal until 5 months. So by 51/2 months he wasn't even on fruits and veggies yet.

Re: starting meats...
My ped suggest starting them between 7-9 months. I think we are going to wait and give her meat that we cook.

Re: starting meats...
I just started the jarred meats for my 8 month old son. He eats it, but it doesn't look appetizing.
I should do some searching to figure out how to make my own meats.

Re: starting meats...
we started introducing the meat combo dinners at 6 months - apples and chicken is a big hit. the plain meat looks so unappetizing I don't know if I could give it to DS.

Re: starting meats...
I only give DS the meats with fruit (chicken or turkey and apples or sweet potatoes).
He's almost 9 months. I used my SIL's grinder last night and gave DS a chicken cutlet with sauteed zucchini and he loved it!!! Much more than the jarred stuff!

Re: starting meats...
I'd have to look to remember exactly but, I think our ped had us start cereals at the 6 mo visit, fruit and veggies at the 7 mo and meats at the 8 mo visit - I did chicken, then turkey then beef...
