Starting solids and Daycare

DD has been doing oatmeal at night for a couple of weeks now.

For the first time this morning I gave her oatmeal at breakfast - but it takes so long for her to eat. My mother came today to watch her so she took over, but tomorrow she goes to daycare. Do I just tell the daycare to giver her oatmeal in place of one of her bottles?- I feel so bad asking them to do it, because she takes sooo long to finish it...

What do you girls do?

I would tell them to feed her what you want her eating. In the beginning cereal isn't supposed to replace a bottle.

DD starts daycare next Tuesday and they will be giving her breakfast and lunch as well as 2 bottles. I will give them her schedule when I drop off her stuff.

Daycare was great when Thomas started solids. They will do whatever you ask, don't feel bad because it takes so long. That's how an infant eats! Chat Icon Thomas would have his bottle first and then cereal because he wasn't much of a bottle drinker but he always loved his solids.

Jen - they will do whatever you ask. Just write it on the daily sheet and tell them in person. I pack Elizabeth's cereal, lunch and snack everyday. They are used to it and it is their job, so don't feel bad about it at all!

Sorry to ask a sep question on your thread Jen - but do they mix it for you? if I'm doing cereal and BM do I just bring a box of cereal and a separate container with an ounce of BM?

No - I mix it at home. They might do it for you - it's just easier for me. Less things to bring each morning!

I always put the cereal in a bowl with a lid and they would add the formula / BM as necessary to get to the right consistency Chat Icon
