Re: stopping swaddling?
10 weeks. He kept breaking out of it to suck his hand. So I figured he didn't need it anymore.
First I left one arm out for a week. Then I stopped completely.

Re: stopping swaddling?
just shy of 4 months - he was breaking out of it at night so we stopped cold turkey. it was NOT fun because at the same time we stopped, he was having trouble with the pacifier falling out of his mouth at night and waking him up.
if you don't use a paci at night, i would say that it will take a few nights but then your DC should be back to sleeping well again.

Re: stopping swaddling?
6 months! My DD loved the swaddle and would not sleep at night or nap without it. I asked the doctor and she said there were no issues with it at all.

Re: stopping swaddling?
With both daughters we stopped swaddling when they started rolling over.
With Eliza- she started rolling in the swaddle at 2.5 months old.
With both, we went cold turkey. It was a rough few nights, but eventually they each got used to it.
My ped supported swaddling them to 6 months or until they start rolling.

Re: stopping swaddling?
Jake is 2 months today, and we swaddle him at night. I'm starting to swaddle him for one nap a day to introduce him to his crib. Saw Ped today, and he said this was fine, and at this age, you can't *over* swaddle. He also said they don't need to be weaned of swaddling (like they would a bottle or paci).

Re: stopping swaddling?
4 months, but we would have kept doing it if we could have. Unfortunately we had to stop for various reasons.

Re: stopping swaddling?
7 months for night time and 9 months for nap time. DS pretty much dictated to us when he was ready to stop and we had no transition period when stopping because he was ready.
