Strep Throat question...

When I was 5 I had my tonsils out and have not had strep since....UNTIL about a year and a half ago. I have had it 5 times (currently have it again now). A year ago i was diagnosed with a cyst on my thyroid, had sono, and biopsy and everything came back normal. Recently had another sono of my thyroid and "nothing has changed".

I know I need to find a new Dr because everytime I call him I can get no answers but I am concerned about how many times I have had it and why I keep getting it. I have made an appt to see him again next week to ask all these questions but has this ever happened to anyone....Should I be worried?? Do you think the Thyroid cyst has anything to do with it??

I am going to make myself crazy until the appt on weds.....

i don't know if this helps, but a friend of mine had a kid who would always test positive for strep with the throat culture. he was classified as a carrier for strep, even if he didn't have an active infection, but because of that a throat culture would always show positive. any time there was a possibility of it being an actual strep infection he had to go for bloodwork to confirm it. maybe you ave having the same problem?
