summer/fall '09 babies
what are our thoughts on potty training ? Where are we at ?
DD has been telling us lately, "pee pee".
we bought a toilet this weekend that doubles as a step stool for her. She loves the step stool. We showed her the toilet part yesterday, she sat on it for 2 seconds and smiled.
Not pushing it, just going to go with the flow, follow her clues and see where it takes us. Just wondering how everyone else is doing.
I cant believe my little baby is going to be 2 and talking about pottys

We're on the same boat as you. Just kind of following her lead for now. She does love her potty though. She'll sit on it all the time, just not to use the bathroom . I think in the next few months I may try putting a little more effort into it. She knows when she has to go and does tell me sometimes but she just doesn't have the desire to use the potty yet.
And I cannot believe she is going to be 2! When the heck did that happen?

Re: summer/fall '09 babies
I've been thinking about it.
He's gone on the potty a few times but only b/c he was interested in it b/c I had just gone, I don't think he knew he had to go but wanted to try and actually went a few times. (which I was shocked about!!! I yelped when he actually starting peeing in the potty) But we haven't moved on it since then.
DH & I discussed it this weekend though b/c he knows when he has to go. He got out of my Moms pool on Saturday just to go poop, so he KNEW he had to go and specifically got OUT of the water to do so.
My fear is. . .we start now, LO#2 comes and he regresses? but on the flip side, is it better to not have 2 in diapers? I just don't know.
I'm going to buy a few books, get a potty and let him show me when he's ready. He thankfully really looks up to his big cousin and wants to do everything he does, so I know this has helped with his interest.

Re: summer/fall '09 babies
We got DD the potty seat that goes on the regular toilet. She loves to sit on it, we usually put her on it for 15/20 mins before bathtime... but she has yet to pee!! She tells us "pee pee" but I think it's right as she's going or even after. I always say Do you want to do peepee on the potty? She screams YES but then just sits and talks about pee pee.
She just started a new daycare today so they are going to work on it with her.

Re: summer/fall '09 babies
I have been thinking a lot about this too. DS will be 23 months on Friday but doesn't show a lot of signs he's ready. Though he has lately started grabbing his diaper sometimes which seems to indicate he has pooped. When we ask him if he pooped he sometimes says yes, sometimes no and it doesn't seem to matter if he actually did.
Sometimes he'll say yes then change it to no b/c he knows we'll want to change him and he still HATES it!! That is the main reason I would like to do it sooner rather then later so we don't have to go through the diper change fights anymore.
I have been looking at pottys but just don't know what to choose - so silly, I know. But I'd like to figure it out soon so we can at least try to get him aquainted with it.
I know, it's hard to believe we're even up to thinking about this. Where did my baby go?!??!?!

Re: summer/fall '09 babies
DD says "potty" all the time, we got her a potty for Christmas that she just enjoyed taking apart and putting back together like a puzzle, so we got her the frog potty from Target and she loves that one, she knows to sit on ti and when she does, she says "potty". She wouldn't sit on one of those ones you get for the adult potty, I think she is a intimidated by the adult potty,we are getting close to her telling us when she has to go. She tells us when she has pooped so we can changer her, we are getting there, hopefully soon.

Re: summer/fall '09 babies
Colin turned 21 months on Saturday. He has gone pee pee on the potty sporadically since 15 months. He poo'd once. When he pood he'll sometimes say, "be right back" and disappear to do it and will tell me it's there sometimes. I have the potty set up for him in the bathroom so he can practice before he goes in the shower but not pushing anything - just warming him up to it for now.
