Swaddling question??

DD is almost 4 months. I find that it is still easier to get her to sleep with the Miracle Blanket. I just wrap her up top around her arms, I don't wrap her legs anymore.

My question is, do you think she's too old to still be swaddled??

When I tried to put her to bed without it, her arms were all over the place. And she startles awake. Do you think it's ok to still swaddle her???

Re: Swaddling question??

My ped we were okay to swaddle as long as she wanted us tooChat Icon

We stopped when she was 6 months old. I used the miracle blanket too.

We knew it was time when she was consistently waking up in the am all undone from the swaddle but didn't wake up at night. She went into a sleep sack, which we just got rid of 2 days ago.Chat Icon

Re: Swaddling question??

I think it's definitely OK to keep swaddling her.

Although I have to say, stopping the swaddle might not be as scary as you think. We had to stop swaddling DS cold turkey at about 3.5 months because he started rolling over in his sleep.

We were panicked because his arms would flail and we thought the only way he could sleep was swaddled.... well we went from the swaddle one night to the sleep sak the next without any problems!

But I say enjoy the swaddle as long as you can!!!

DD is also 4 months and is still being swaddled. We stopped a couple of nights and they were terrible nights! I guess she's just not ready!

DS is 4 months and I can't bear the thought of waking up every hour again......
Although I should probably do it before I go back to work.....

Re: Swaddling question??

I have been trying to wean DS off and it hasn't been easy. I am starting with naps and leaving one arm out. The problem I have is two fold - he flails and wakes himself up AND he scratches his face. I can put socks on his hands for the scratching, but he really can't seem to settle himself down without the swaddle. He has just started sleeping through the night and I selfishly am not ready to give that up yet to get rid of the swaddle.

ETA: DS is almost 4 months.

Re: Swaddling question??

I did it until 5 months and DS was obsessed with the swaddle. He adjusted very well to the Halo Sleep Saks
