Switching Formula question

So DD has been ultra gassy at nights, only at night, which is strange, she grunts, moans and farts like there is no tomorrow...
Anyway, I'm currently feeding her the Similac Sensitive R.S. which only comes in ready to feed, the good thing is it doesn't NORMALLY make her fussy, she normally can go down and sleep right after eating, but she does experience gas issues...I have some smaples of the enfamil gentlease and the similac sensitive (regular), ready to feed and powder...now I've mixed the enfamil and it looks really really light...I know that powder is generally lighter than RTF, but was wondering if enfamil is particularly light...I'm asking this bc DD is a huuuuge eater and I don't want to replace one problem with another and have DD be hungry during the night and waking more...so what do you suggest, the enfamil gentlease, similac sensitive RTF or powder..ugh...or any other brand that has worked for you???

see the thing is its working, but I noticed that at night she gets ultra gassy and starts to moan and groan and fart like nuts...so I was wondering if another one would work better and not cause her this...

Re: Switching Formula question

Here is my scoop..enfamil tastes different than similac..my DD rejected it hard and even threw it up...i would at least stick to the same brand, she is used to that.
The gas is something i have dealt with for really all 10 weeks of her life! Nights can be brutal, usually the worst time. Getting burps out of her at night helps tremendously..whether she is sleeping or not, i try..
Do you use Dr. Brown bottles-those help me alot
Mylicon def helps with gas for my DD
Mylanta is what the GI doc told me to use, 1/2 tspn 2x's a day(adult kind, her gas cuts down big time, i give it before bed)
Sensitive worked for DD but not as good as Allimentium-my daughter has reflux and milk allergy so we had to switch formula a ton..not only that, we are going to neocate now:(

Re: Switching Formula question

I just went from Similac Sensitive RS to plain Sensitive. I use the powdered Sensitive, as opposed to having to be forced into using the RTF with the RS.

The Sensitive plain is working out great for DD, and I don't see her eating anymore than before. She is currently eating about 6-8 oz per feeding, and she did with both RS and plain.

is she constipated? the RS can cause constipation, which could explain her discomfort...

DS went from similac sensitive to enfamil gentlease with no problems (i BF but he gets one bottle of formula a day). i never consulted with my ped (although i never realized i should have) - i just went with my gut. Chat Icon

ETA: he was on similac advanced, not sensitive. sorry!

RS constipated my DD badly too. Plain Sensitive doesn't so far.

She's having a BM once a day, the thing is she DOES NOT want to burp at night....I have a whole box of the Smiliac Sensitive RS...ugh I wonder if Target will allow me to exchange it without a problem..but I guess I should try to switch her before I exchange it to make sure it works...
Doesn't switching formulas constipate them??? In the beginning I tried switching and she got constipated....

Hmmm, I don't know if it automatically does it. I do know if you go from Sensitive RS to plain Sens you shouldn't have a problem overall b/c it's just minus the rice starch.

Put it this way, since I switched from Early Shield to Sens RS to plain Sens, my DD is sleeping mostly thru the night only since going on hte plain Sensitive. So it being light doesn't seem to matter in a bad way, only a good way.
