Switching formulas b/c of gasiness/fussiness
so DS is on regular enfamil lipil and the past week has been spitting up more, farting a lot and fussing a lot at night time and waking up during he night (normally hes always been a good sleeper, who sleeps through the night). i called the dr and he said to change his formula and put him on isomil or prosobee to see if it helps. DH and i are nervous to switch formulas as DS has done good on regular enfamil prior to the past week or so. Plus DS is such a happy baby during the day, its really only night time that he seems so gassy and uncomfortable. We are afraid that his cheerful and happy demeanor will change if the new formula doesn't agree with him. Any advice would be appreciated. Also the doctor said try it for a day or two and see if we see a difference, how long did it take any of you to see a difference after switching formulas. and what kind of formula are you using? TIA!

Re: Switching formulas b/c of gasiness/fussiness
I waited a week but some ladies advise waiting two. We have the same problem except she is cranky and gassy during the day and sometimes at night. We are on Similac Alimentum right now and DH thiks its working-she is still gassy BUT she is sleeping through the night again and taking 2 hr naps during the day. However its a fight to get ehr to drink it.

If I were you I wouldn't switch to Prosobee. FM me for details, but there's some questionable research on soy formula for infants. Try switching to Enfamil Gentlease...we switched DD from Lipil to Gentlease with no problems!

Our Dr. also had us switch to Gentlease and we had no problems after that.

Re: Switching formulas b/c of gasiness/fussiness
thanks for the responses, i am going to go with gentlease, just based on a gut feeling. My doctor told me to try the prosobee even after i told him i had doubts about the soy and the nurse was nasty about it too. But i have to do what i think is best for my son. I figured if it doesnt work then i will try the soy, but let me see if the gentlease will do the trick
