Switching from Oil to Gas Heat
I have Oil heat in my home but the burner has acted up 3 times in the last 2 weeks and I had to call somebody in each time. I am getting tired of the heat not working especially since I have the kids now. Can anyone tell me how you went about switching....the costs...who you used and are you happy you switched.... TIA

Re: Switching from Oil to Gas Heat
You probably should post on the Home board. There has been many posts on that.
I used Burner King. It was $5K and concidered an "easy" job.
We loved the conversion. So much cheaper than oil and no delivery.
Burner King did everything including taking care of the permit with our township.

I love my Pellet stove. Heats the WHOLE house and it is cheaper then Oil or gas HANDS down. Just an idea to think about

Re: Switching from Oil to Gas Heat
The expense lies not necessarily in the conversion but whether or not you have a gas line running to your house. If not it could cost an additional $5-10k depending on how long of a gas line they need to install.

Re: Switching from Oil to Gas Heat
if under 100ft to a gas line then it is free plus the plumber costs and new boiler - i think it is a $100 a foot after that -
it took about 3 months for us to get national grid here to install our gas line
not sure how much our boiler cost because we did tons of renovations we used energy wise to do our conversion
