switching to gentlease...please share success stories
we are switching DD to Enfamil Gentlease. She has been BF and FF with goodstart. She is 14 weeks and a terrible sleeper. she seems fine during the day but at night she is super gassy and i think that might be what is waking her up. Last night she went to sleep at 930 and was up from 1 to 3 then slept half an hour and was up for another hour and then slept 2 1/2 hours after that. i dont know what to do anymore. she has never been a good sleeper but this is even worse than before. she is a good baby during the day...happy, naps well, plays, not too fussy- so i can't figure out why she is not sleeping at night. i have tried EVERYTHING and am at a complete loss. i really need some sleep
those on gentlease tell me some positive stories. i'm hoping this might be better for her.
we tried nutramigen when she was 6 weeks old and it made no difference.

Re: switching to gentlease...please share success stories
I think you need to put the baby to bed a lot earlier then 9:30. I switched my DS to gentlease because he was really gassy but he was gassy day and night..I think if the sleeping issues were just about gas she would have gas during the day too. It doesnt hurt to try and put her down at like 7:00 and see if she sleeps any better..this seems to work for us!

Re: switching to gentlease...please share success stories
could she be teething already? My 11 week old is teething badly and it bothers him at night a lot. We put him on gentlease after a few weeks of terrible gas on similac sensitive and the difference has been night and day. His gas is no longer a problem

thanks. she's gone down earlier and it has made no difference. Sometimes 745, sometimes 815, 830 845. Doesn't seem to matter.

Re: switching to gentlease...please share success stories
DS was started on Enfamil. He seems very uncomfortable. So we switched him to Similac Sensitive almost immediately because DD had been on it and did great. For about 5 weeks he was constantly screaming, crying, grunting. He was always hungry and never slept more than 2-3 hours. It was a nightmare!!!!!
So we took him to the ped thinking there had to be something wrong with this kid. The ped said to try to switch his formula again. He suggested Gentlease.
No joke by day 2 AJ was an entirely different baby. He was happy, sleeping longer. There was no more grunting, no more screaming. He started sleeping through the night!!!!! He was 7 weeks old and sleeping from 9:30pm to 6am. Once in a while he will wake up at 3 am for a bottle but that only happens maybe once every 2 weeks.
Gentlease is awesome. It saved my sanity and probably my marriage

Re: switching to gentlease...please share success stories
DS had definite gas and poopy issues almost from the get go.
We switched him to Gentlease and on the first go around it didnt really help. The formula is lighter than regular formula and it didnt fill DS up enough. He was a voracious eater. So while it was helping with his poopy issues he was now screaming b/c he was hungry. So we switched him back to regular.
Fast forward to around 6 weeks. We had had enough and decide to switch him back to Genltease. This time around we were also going to be adding rice cereal to his formula to help with his reflux. (as a BTDT mom I wanted to go with this method before I put him on meds it had worked for my older daughter) Instead of just switching the formula from one to the other I weaned him off of one formula to the other. He was on 8oz bottles at this point so first we did 6oz regular to 2oz Gentle etc. For us once the bottle was 1/2 regular and 1/2 gentle it was like night and day....suddenly very happy baby. With out peds approval we just kept his bottles like that until it was time to switch to milk. She said if it was working for him then it was fine with her. He was getting the nutrition he needed etc.
We probably could have just switched him to straight Gentlease but I live by the "if it's not broken dont fix it" rule. He was happy and so were we....

We switched my daughter to gentlease when she was a few weeks old and it helped greatly. We ended up keeping her on it for the first year.

Re: switching to gentlease...please share success stories
Gentlease was a God send for us. Erin was miserable until we switched her. Noticed the change in 2 days, happy, not fussy and no gas! Hope you get the same results.

Re: switching to gentlease...please share success stories
Same story here too. DS is much less gassy and fussy on Gentlease.
FYI, though - DS spits up a lot, and when I did a search on these boards for Gentlease I found a thread that indicates that he's not alone. It doesn't cause him discomfort; he just basically opens his mouth and it drips out. Drips is an understatement...more like pours, but you get the idea. He goes through numerous bibs a day.
I would rather that than him be miserable, so it's all good.

Re: switching to gentlease...please share success stories
It took a couple of days for DS to get used to the Gentlease over here too, but it has been NIGHT and DAY! He now sleeps from 8 to 6 with no gas and no grunting. We started him on the Gentlease at about 3 weeks...I learned the hard way from DS#1! It will get better...just give it a couple of days!

Re: switching to gentlease...please share success stories
my first DS was switched to Gent. when he was 8 weeks, and did great on it. I also just switched DS 2 to the generic target brand gent. @ 10 weeks and he is sooooo much better. before he was such a fuss bucket all day long. now he is usually happy but gets hungry faster for some reasonl
